old holiday catalog meets new holiday catalog, DAY 2

Like yesterday’s post, today’s card blends items from both this year’s Holiday Catalog with items from last year’s catalog!  For this card, I used the Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper and Pick a Pumpkin Bundle (from this year’s catalog).  It also features a sentiment from the Paisleys & Posies set, which was first introduced in last year’s holiday catalog, and is now available on page 128 of the Annual Catalog!

The Pick a Pumpkin Bundle includes both the Pick a Pumpkin Stamp Set and the Patterned Pumpkins Thinlits Dies.  The stamp set is available in both Clear Mount and Wood Mount.  Of course, both items are available separately, but buying both as a bundle will save you 10% over the price of purchasing them separately!

Colors on this card include Cajun Craze, Early Espresso, Daffodil Delight, Crushed Curry, Old Olive, Peekaboo Peach, Tangerine Tango, and Very Vanilla.

Thanks for checking in today! Please check back tomorrow for another “new meets old” holiday creation!

Last year’s holiday catalog meets this year’s holiday catalog

There’s so much excitement surrounding the Holiday Catalog once it comes out, that it’s easy to forget that there are some great holiday items in the Annual Catalog as well!  This week, I am making a point to use items not only from the new Holiday Catalog, but also items from the Annual one, both holiday and everyday items too!

Today’s card features the Watercolor Christmas stamp set from the 2017 Holiday Catalog.  This set is available in both clear mount and wood mount.  I love the large, elegant script in all of the sentiments in this set!  I paired the Merriest Christmas Wishes sentiment with the Santa stamp from the Cookie Cutter Christmas set. The Cookie Cutter Christmas set was a huge hit from LAST year’s Holiday Catalog, and is now available in the Annual Catalog! Both images were stamped in Basic Black Archival ink.  The sentiment was framed and cut with the Stitched Shapes Framelits, and the Santa image was colored with Stampin’ Write Markers.  The background papers are from the Quilted Christmas 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper, and the holly and berries accent is from the Carols of Christmas Bundle.

Thanks for checking in today!  Please check back tomorrow for another project featuring items both “old” and “new”!

3 x 3 Painted Harvest Mini Note Card Set

I LOVE mini note cards!  Mini note cards are the perfect size to place in lunches, coworkers’ mailboxes, or for use as gift tags! This set was made using the Painted Harvest Bundle, Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper, and both the Ribbon of Courage and So Many Shells stamp sets. I love sunflowers, and this set makes it easy to make stunning sunflowers in any color combination you choose.  For these cards, I stuck with traditional yellow, but I’ve seen some made with red, orange, and even some non-traditional greens, blues, and more that are just gorgeous!

These cards measure 3 x 3 inches, and are the perfect size to fit inside the new Mini Pizza Boxes. These cute little boxes measure 3-1/2 x 3-1/2 x 1 inches, and can be used for card sets/tags, but are also food safe, so they can be used for yummy treats as well!  This finished set contains the three cards, as well as three Whisper White 3 x 3 Envelopes (envelopes not shown).  This set would make a cute gift for someone special!

Thanks for stopping by today!

An overview of adhesives

Have you ever wondered why there are so many different adhesives for papercrafting? They all function to stick stuff together, right? But not all adhesives are meant to be used the same way! Here’s a reference chart for each adhesive Stampin’ Up! sells, with a quick description of what each one is and tips for using it! Of course, we all have our favorites!  Some of mine are shown below. What are yours?

1. SNAIL ADHESIVE

This is my all time favorite adhesive! I use it for as much as I possibly can. It holds great, is easy to use, doesn’t make a huge mess, and the roller is super convenient to use and transport. And when it runs out, just pop in a refill and continue working! So convenient!

2. MINI GLUE DOTS

These are my go to for tiny pieces of cardstock, paper, or embellishments that are too small to for Snail Adhesive. Again, not messy, easy to use, and convenient!

3. MULTIPURPOSE ADHESIVE SHEETS

This product is brand new to the 2017-2018 Annual Catalog, and I LOVE it! These sheets make adhering die cuts SO easy! Simply add this to the back of a piece of cardstock or paper before you run it through the Big Shot. When you are ready to apply your die cut to your project, just peel off the backing and stick! This product basically works to make any die cut into a sticker, and the best part is that it covers the WHOLE back of it with a super sticky adhesive that holds great!

4. MULTIPURPOSE LIQUID GLUE

I am not going to lie, I am NOT a fan of glue! It’s just not my thing, and I try to avoid using it as much as I can, especially since I always make a huge mess with it! However, sometimes glue really is the best thing to use, and I have to go with it! When I DO use glue, this is the one I tend to reach for. It does have a lot of uses, and is definitely good to have on hand for when only glue will do!

a little love bird on a coffee break!

Coffee Break Designer Series paper was used to make this very NON-coffee themed card!  While many of the designs in the paper are definitely coffee themed, many are generic, and can be used for any kind of card!  This card features two of the designs in Soft Sky and Garden Green.  I watercolored some Pear Pizzazz behind the paper, and used the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits for the “love”.  The cute little bird is from the Birds & Blooms Thinlits, and the “You” on the banner piece is from the Wood Words stamp set. Hope you like it!

Taking inspiration from the Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog

Sometimes, the best place to look for inspiration is the Stampin’ Up! catalog!  Not only do the catalogs beautifully showcase all of the great products that Stampin’ Up! sells, but there are also loads of full color samples throughout to show many ways the products can be used!  The card in this post was inspired by a sample on page 36 of the Holiday Catalog.  I loved the sample as it is shown in the catalog, but wanted to change it up and make it with the more traditional Christmas colors of red and green. (Or in this case, Real Red and Garden Green!)

Here is the original card as it is shown in the catalog:

I really love the layout and design of this card, so I wanted to keep my final version as close to the original as possible.  I simply substituted a different paper and greeting, and added some extra sequins for a little more bling!  For my version, I used paper from the Quilted Christmas 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper and an alternate greeting from the Cheers to the Year stamp set (which is the same set that was used on the sample in the catalog). I kept the large snowflake background, which was made with the Winter Wonder Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, as well as the Silver Mini Sequin Trim.  The extra sequins I added are from the Metallics Sequins Assortment.  I’m very pleased with how it came out!

gerbera daisy Thankful for You Card

I love the combination of Cherry Cobbler, Basic Black, and Very Vanilla together!  This card uses these three colors, as well as Always Artichoke! The Daisy Punch was used to make this deep colored Gerbera Daisy, and the leaves were made using cutting dies from both the Rose Garden Thinlits and the Bouquet Bunch Framelits. To get the fullness on the daisy, I stamped and punched the daisy twice, then layered one on top of the other. The background is embossed with the Polka Dot Basics Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, which gives this card just a little added detail, and the sentiment is from the Painted Harvest stamp set!

Here’s a list of the different inks I used, and where I used them:

Versamark ink was used on the daisy itself.
Basic Black Archival ink was used on the sentiment.
Soft Suede ink was used on the center of the daisy.

Hope you like it!
