It’s Merry Monday: Time for a Festive Wood Ornament!

For this week’s Merry Monday project I made an ornament!  We have so many gorgeous Designer Series Papers this year for the holidays, that I wanted to showcase them in ways other than just cards.  I was browsing for craft supplies on Amazon, and I came across these 3 inch wood circles.  They are perfect for what I had in mind!  I also purchased the small screw in eyes for the string on Amazon as well.  I will share the links for both items at the end of this post!

For now, let’s take a peek at the Stampin’ Up! products used on this.  I used the Layering Circle Framelits to cut a piece of polka dot Regals 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper.  Before doing that, I applied a piece of Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets to the back of the paper, then ran it through the Big Shot.  This made it so that the entire back of the DSP piece was covered with adhesive for a very strong, uniform hold!  (Plus there’s NO MESS!)

Once the DSP was adhered to the circle, I used the Big Shot to cut the tree from the Joyous Noel 6 x 6 Glimmer Paper.  The tree was cut with a die from the Sweetly Stitched Framelits.  I also cut a small star from gold glimmer paper using the Twinkle Builder Punch.  The sentiment is from the Star of Light stamp set, and the ends were punched using the Triple Banner Punch.  Colors for this project are Real Red, Tranquil Tide, Whisper White, and Gold!

Just a note about the string on the top: it is actually a piece of Gold 1/8 inch Cord.  The cord was too big for the opening in the eye hook, so I unraveled the metallic thread, and pulled out the inner core of the cord.  There are actually TWO cords together inside, and they have a really pretty gold color to them that made them perfect to still use on this project!

Measurements for this project are as follows:

Real Red Polka Dot DSP:  2-15/16 inch in diameter

Green Glimmer Paper tree:  1-3/4 x 1-3/4 inches (approximate)

Gold Glimmer Paper star:  1/2 inch

Whisper White sentiment piece:  1/2 x 2-1/2 inches

As promised, here are the links for the non Stampin’ Up! products used on this project (wood circles and screw eye hooks):

Wood circles: find them HERE.

Screw eyes: find them HERE.

This project would be a good beginner crafting project, or even something fun to make with kids!  Hope you like it!

Thanks for stopping by today.  🙂
