Barn Door Card Inspired By My Real Barn Door!

My card today is made with the Barn Door Bundle.  It is inspired by the door on my actual barn!  It’s pretty simple, and just shows two doors, two wreaths, and a simple sentiment.  The Barn Door stamp set includes stamps for the door, two different wreaths, and some sentiments.  The bundle also includes the Sliding Door Framelits dies, which includes 15 dies!  You can use this bundle to make cards with doors that actually slide, though for this one, I just kept them stationary.

Here’s a picture of my actual barn door:

The design on the doors is slightly different, but I tried to keep the card as close as possible to the actual thing (and yes, it’s almost April and my Christmas wreaths are still up!  LOL!)

Here’s a peek at the full bundle:

Of course, the stamp set and and framelits can be purchased separately as well!

The measurements for this card are as follows:

Crumb Cake card base:  8-1/2 x 5-1/2 inches (scored at 4-1/4 and folded in half)

Crumb Cake middle layer:  5-1/4 x 4 inches (embossed with Simple Stripes Embossing Folder)

Crumb Cake layer for doors:  5 x 3-3/4 inches (door stamped twice and cut with framelits)

Whisper White scraps for wreaths and sentiment piece

Also, don’t forget, TOMORROW is the last day of Sale-a-Bration!  There’s still time to earn Sale-a-Bration items with a purchase of $50 or more (before tax and shipping)!  Scoop up some great last minute deals before they’re gone!

Thanks for visiting today!  Have a great day!

Sheltering Tree Four Seasons Project

Today’s project is one I made a couple of years back.  I was going through old pictures on my laptop and I noticed that pretty much everything on this project is still current, so I thought I would share!  When the Sheltering Tree stamp set first came out a few years ago, the first thing I thought of using it for was a four seasons themed project.  I wasn’t sure what I was going to make, but I knew I wanted to do something.  I was at Kohl’s one day and found this frame, and thought it would be perfect.  So I bought two frames, and made one for me and one for my best friend. I love the way they came out!

Each panel measures 4 x 6 inches in size.  For the background on each, I cut a 1-1/4 inch circle and used removable adhesive to hold it in place.  I then sponged Soft Sky ink lightly over the whole background.  When that was done, I removed the circle and filled in the sun with So Saffron, again, lightly sponged.  I then stamped the ground and tree, and went from there!  I will show a close up of each panel below, as well as post any relevant info about each one.  We’ll start with the winter panel:

Colors:  Soft Sky, Soft Suede, So Saffron

Colors:  Soft Sky, Soft Suede, So Saffron, Blushing Bride, Pistachio Pudding (retired)

As the Pistachio Pudding is now retired, if I were to make this again, I would use either Pear Pizzazz or Lemon Lime Twist!

Colors:  Soft Sky, Soft Suede, So Saffron, Wild Wasabi

Colors: Soft Sky, Soft Suede, So Saffron, Old Olive, Crumb Cake, Tangelo Twist (retired), and Hello Honey (retired).

Tangerine Tango and Crushed Curry would be good substitutes for the retired colors on this panel.

This project was a lot of fun to make, and a lot easier to make than it looks!  This is also a great way to show that Stampin’ Up! products can be used for much more than cardmaking and scrapbooking!

I hope you have enjoyed my project today!  Thanks for checking in!

The Importance of Handmade Cards

Just got internet and cable back after a CRAZY storm yesterday!  We never lost power, thank goodness!  I wanted to post this earlier, but couldn’t get on my computer to do it.  Better late than never!

Since becoming a demonstrator, I send lots of handmade cards to friends and family!  And I love to see how they brighten people’s day!  Why not make a handmade card for someone YOU love this weekend?  🙂

A Picture Perfect Birthday Card

The Picture Perfect Birthday stamp set is one of my favorite products from the Occasions Catalog!  I love the many fun stamps that can be used to create candles, noisemakers, confetti, and more, as well as the lovely script sentiments!  For this card, I decided to use bright blues and greens for the colors.  I really love the combination of Lemon Lime Twist, Bermuda Bay, and white, so that’s what I went with!

The measurements for this card are as follows:

Bermuda Bay Card Base: 4-1/4 x 11 inches, scored at 5-1/2 inches and folded in half.

Eastern Palace Specialty DSP Background layer: 4 x 5-1/4 inches

White Strip: 5-1/4 x 2 inches

Bermuda Bay Scallop Layer: 3 x 3 inches

White Circle Layer: 3 x 3 inches

For the candles, I used Lemon Lime Twist and Bermuda Bay ink, as well as Peekaboo Peach for the flames.  I then used the Layering Circles Framelits to cut the candle layer, as well as the scalloped piece behind it.  The sentiment is also from the Picture Perfect Birthday set, and is embellished with a silver heart from the Metallic Enamel Shapes.  The top of the card is finished with a Lemon Lime Twist Ombre ribbon bow!

Here’s a peek at the full stamp set:

This set is a photopolymer stamp set and contains 18 stamps.  Suggested clear blocks are b, c, and d.

You can find this set, as well as the rest of the products used to make this card, listed below!

I hope you’ve enjoyed my project today!  Thanks for stopping by!

Out of the Country and Experiencing Technical Difficulties

I am currently out of the country for a few days and am having a hard time with the WiFi here.  It is spotty at best.  So I am going to hold off on posting for a few days until I get back.  I will be returning Sunday, which means that I should be back to daily posts on Monday!  I hope you’ll check back then.  In the meantime, enjoy the rest of your week and weekend!  🙂

Which Cardstock Would You Rather Use?

A comment I hear A LOT is “I’m going to just go buy white card stock at the craft store!  It’s all the same anyway.”  And I will admit, that I too thought this same thing when I first started stamping about 15 years ago.  However, I learned very quickly that not all white card stock is created equal!

I learned this one day when I was trying to stamp the above image.  I was using white card stock from a local craft store and I just could NOT get a clear image when I stamped the star.  I tried everything I could think of:  I reinked the pad, cleaned the stamp, added as much ink to the stamp as possible, and more.  And no matter how hard I tried, I just could not get a clear, solid image!  I was ready to give up, when I got the idea to try Stampin’ Up! Whisper White card stock instead.  At the time, I really didn’t think it would make a difference.  I thought I would get the same result.  I was totally shocked when I got a completely different result!  The same image, stamped on Stampin’ Up! card stock was much clearer, much more vivid, and much more solid than it was on the craft store card stock!  I couldn’t believe it!  And you can SEE the difference in the picture above!  The non Stampin’ Up! card stock seems faded, it’s not clear, and the image does not look solid.  Compare this to the image on the one on the right, and the difference is clear!

So the bottom line is that, while you may pay a little more for Stampin’ Up!, you absolutely get a better product!  I only use Whisper White card stock now in all my projects!  It’s so worth it!  Try it for yourself and see!

Stampin’ Up! Artisan Design Team January Projects

Each year, Stampin’ Up! selects a small group of demonstrators from all over the the world to be part of their Artisan Design Team. These demonstrators must have a blog and must commit to creating projects at least monthly for a year to share on their blogs, as well as in Stampin’ Up! marketing including Facebook, Instagram, and more!  Each month showcases projects centered around a certain product, group of products, or theme. January’s projects feature Sale-a-Bration items, and they are ALL truly beautiful!  ALL of the stamp sets featured in these projects can be earned for FREE with a $50 order (before tax and shipping)!  While I am NOT a member of the Artisan Design Team, I thought you might enjoy seeing what they have created!  Please click HERE to see this month’s amazing projects.  Enjoy!

Have a great weekend!
