Throwback Thursday: My Baby Shower Thank you!

The other night, my sister and I were going through a box of our mom’s old pictures and I came across this card I made back in 2011!  I made these for my baby shower when I was having my first child.  We didn’t find out if he was a girl or boy ahead of time, so I made them green and yellow (or more specifically Certainly Celery and Barely Banana – both of which are retired now.)  I used two stamp sets on this card.  The first is called I’m Here, and is the set that contains the alphabet background stamp and the handprint used on the card.  The full set included two hand stamps, two footprints, the alphabet stamp, and another that says “I’m Here”.  The Thank You sentiment came from a second set called Short & Sweet.  Unfortunately, both of these sets are now retired, though you can probably still find them on ebay or Etsy!

These cards were intentionally kept simple, as I had to make so many of them.  I love seeing old stamp sets and colors on projects I’ve made in the past!  Certainly Celery is one of my favorite Stampin’ Up! colors of all time. I even used it as one of my wedding colors when I got married in 2008!  (Someday, when I unpack all of the boxes sitting in my basement, I’ll also share my wedding invitations!  I made them as well!)

Thanks for stopping by today!  Enjoy your day!

A Quick and Easy Thank You with Designer Series Paper Strips

Here’s a quick and easy Thank You card made with leftover Designer Series Paper strips.  This card is not only super easy to make, but is also a great way to use up those small pieces of DSP that you may have laying around!  I don’t like to waste ANYTHING, so when my upline posted a challenge for us to create a card very similar to this, I thought it was a great way to use up leftover DSP!  You can very easily switch up the look of this card by switching the paper, ribbon, punch, and sentiment.  For this one, I used the Sweet Soiree Specialty Designer Series Paper, along with a Thank You sentiment from the Petal Palette stamp set.  I also used the 3/8 inch Powder Pink Shimmer Ribbon, Pretty Label Punch, and Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper.

Here are the measurements of the different pieces you will need for this card:

Card Base:  5-1/2 x 8-1/2 inches (scored and folded in half)

DSP strips: 1 x 3 inches each

Backing layer for DSP strips:  3-1/4 x 4-1/4 inches

Punch piece and Glimmer Paper: big enough for whatever punch or die you use for the sentiment  (cut the punched glimmer paper piece in half lengthwise and adhere with glue dots to the back of the sentiment.  You want it to be offset a bit to look layered).

Once you have all of your pieces, adhere the DSP strips to the backing with Snail Adhesive (or other adhesive of your choice).  Adhere a piece of ribbon across the strips, fold the end pieces under, and adhere to the back.  Then mount onto your card base.  Assemble your sentiment piece and adhere to the card with Dimensionals.  For this card, I didn’t want to embellish too much, as the paper has silver foil accents, which I think dresses it up nicely as is.  So I just added a couple of silver Metallic Enamel Shapes, and the card was complete!  Super easy and quick!

Thanks for checking in today!  Have a great day!

Floral Thank You Card with Products from THREE Catalogs!

Today’s card features products from the Annual Catalog and Occasions Catalog, as well as two carryover products from the Holiday Catalog!  The floral strip is from the Myths & Magic Specialty Designer Series Paper (Occasions), the sentiment and leaves behind it are from the Painted Autumn Suite (Holiday), and the little flowers are cut from a die in the Bloomin’ Heart Thinlits (Annual).  While only the Annual and Occasions Catalog are current right now, the Painted Autumn items are still available in the Holiday Favorites section of the online store!  Colors for this card are as follows:

I also added a silver Metallic Foil Doily, as well as silver Metallic Enamel shapes to the centers of the flowers for a bit of shine!
I like the simple layout of this card, and the colors remind me of Spring!  Yesterday my kids had yet another snow day (it’s probably the 5th or 6th one this year!)  What was forecasted to be a “dusting to an inch” of snow ended up being 6-7 inches!  And while we had fun and the snow is really pretty, I am definitely looking forward to warmer temps and flowers this spring!  🙂
Thanks so much for stopping by today!  Enjoy your day!
