A Simple Sympathy Card Made with The Flourish Filigree Stamp Set

When I have to make a sympathy card for someone, I try to keep it simple.  It’s always so hard to know what to say to someone when they have suffered a loss.  For this card, I used a new set called Flourish Filigree as the main set.  It is in the Holiday Catalog, and is shown as being mostly used for holiday projects, but it can be used for so many other occasions!  The large filigree stamp is perfect for weddings, sympathy cards, monagrammed note cards, and more!  It’s really very elegant!

Here’s a peek at the full set:

For my card, I wanted to use the outline of the “Happy Christmas Wishes” stamp on my sentiment piece, but I didn’t want to use the sentiment inside.  So I covered the sentiment portion of the stamp with small pieces of scotch tape before inking it up.  Before stamping, I removed all the tape.  That way, I was still able to get the pretty outline without the sentiment.  I then added the sympathy greeting separately.  (The greeting is from the Flourishing Phrases stamp set.)

Measurements for this card are as follows:

Powder Pink cardstock base:  5-1/2 x 8-1/2 inches (scored at 4-1/4 inches and folded in half)

Shimmery White cardstock layer:  4 x 5-1/4 inches

Sentiment piece:  1-1/2 x 2-3/8 inches (approximately)

I hope you like my sweet and simple card!  Thanks for visiting!

Simply Stated Sympathy Card with Graceful Glass Designer Vellum

I always find it hard to make sympathy cards.  I feel like it’s such a delicate subject matter and I don’t always know what to say.  So usually when I have to make one, I try to keep it short, sweet, and simple.  This card was made with the Graceful Glass 6 x 6 inch Designer Vellum, the Kindness & Compassion stamp set, Stampin’ Blends Markers, and the Subtle Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  Colors are Highland Heather, Granny Apple Green, Smoky Slate, and Whisper White.

The Graceful Glass 6 x 6 Designer Vellum is so pretty!  It was designed specifically to be hand colored.  I like to use Stampin’ Blends on it, but it can also be colored with any other coloring tool that Stampin’ Up! offers, including Stampin’ Write Markers, Aqua painters, Watercolor pencils, and more!  It contains 12 different designs and you get 2 of each sheet in the package, for a total of 24 sheets. The sheet I used has four different floral columns, including peonies, irises, roses, and lilies!  Here’s what the full sheet looks like:

For this card, I trimmed out the center of the iris column and mounted it on a Whisper White backing.  I then used a piece of Highland Heather card stock as the background and embossed it with the Subtle Dynamic Textures Impressions Embossing Folder.  I LOVE this folder!  It’s perfect when you want to add just a hint of detail to a project without it being too bold or overwhelming.

When I first made this card, I used the vellum column as is.  But when I put it on the card, I felt that the irises were a little too low on the card.  So I trimmed a section off the top and then relocated it to the bottom instead, and then used that as my final piece:

Here’s what the rearranged strip looked like before I applied it to the card:

When I assembled the card, I made sure to place the sentiment strip over the seam between the two pieces so that it is hidden.  I was much happier with the irises a little closer to the top of the card!

Measurements for this card are as follows:

Thick Whisper White card base: 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 inches (scored at 4-1/4 inches and folded in half)

Highland Heather layer: 4 x 5-1/4 inches

Iris vellum strip:  1-3/16 x 5-1/8 inches

Whisper White strip behind vellum:  1-3/8 x 5-1/4 inches

Whisper White sentiment strip:  3/4 x 4 inches

I didn’t add too much additional embellishment for this card, as I wanted to keep it simple.  I did add a couple of pearls to the upper right corner, just to add a little something!

If you have any questions about this card, please let me know.  Thanks for stopping by!

Sending Prayers with the Rooted in Nature Bundle

Today’s project was made with the NEW Rooted in Nature Bundle.  This new bundle includes both the 16 piece Rooted in Nature stamp set, as well as the 12 piece Nature’s Roots Framelits Dies.  I also used a VERY cool new product called Big Shot Embossing Mats to emboss the leaves up the left side of the card.  This new product allows you to use cutting dies to emboss, rather than just cut!  This opens up so many new possibilities for embossing!

Here’s a peek at the Rooted in Nature Bundle:

Of course, both the stamp set and cutting dies are available separately, but purchasing them as a bundle will save you 10% off the cost of the two products separately!

Other products used on this card include the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies, Layering Ovals Framelits, Linen Thread, Leaves Trinkets, Clear Wink of Stella, and the NEW Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set!

Measurements for this card are as follows:

Soft Suede cardstock base layer:  5-1/2 x 8-1/2 inches (scored at 4-1/4 inches and folded in half)

Very Vanilla layer:  4-5-1/4 inches

Very Vanilla square layer:  2-5/8 x 2-5/8 inches

Very Vanilla sentiment piece:  3/4 x 1-3/4 inches

Finished trees:  1-3/4 x 3 inches (approximately)

The Rooted in Nature bundle is part of the new Nature’s Poem Suite, which will be available June 1st!  Have you received a copy of the new catalog?  If not, and you do not already have demonstrator, I would be happy to send one to you!  Contact me today to get yours!

Thanks for checking in!

A Rustic and Simply Stated Sympathy Card

Sympathy cards are hard for me to make.  It’s always hard to make a card for someone who is dealing with so much sadness.  For that reason, I try to keep sympathy cards simple, both in their design and message.

This card features the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper and Flourish Thinlits.  The sentiment is from the  Better Together stamp set, and is framed with a die from the Petals & More Thinlits set.  It is embellished with Linen Thread and Pearl Basic Jewels.  The pearls were colored with the Ivory Stampin’ Blends Marker to match the Very Vanilla cardstock used throughout the card.

It’s hard to tell from the pictures, but the sentiment is stamped in Fresh Fig ink.  I did this in order to give this card just the slightest hint of color.  The rest of the card is very muted and simple, and I wanted to break it up a bit, but not in a way that was too bold or glaring.  I really love how the Fresh Fig looks against the neutral colors in this card!

I’m very happy with how this card came out, even though it was made for such a sad occasion!
