3D Thursday: Patriotic Holiday Luminary

Happy July! Independence Day is right around the corner! I LOVE Independence Day! Not only does it celebrate an integral part of our country’s history, but it was also my grandfather’s birthday. I have so many happy memories of this day from when I was a kid, because we would always go to my aunt’s house for a big party with my whole family. My mom is one of 13 kids, so between aunts, uncles, grandparents, and cousins, there were A LOT of us!

It’s my turn to create for 3D Thursday, so I created a festive patriotic luminary to celebrate the 4th! This project was A LOT of fun to create! I used Real Red, Night of Navy, and white for my colors, but other reds and blues can be used as well! This project can also be modified to be bigger or smaller, or can be made for any holiday or occasion just by switching up colors and how it’s decorated. I fully plan on making some for both Halloween and Christmas this year!

To light the luminary, I used a 3 inch battery operated LED candle. I got the candles at At Home, however, they can be purchased pretty much anywhere. The ones I have flicker like real candles, so it looks really pretty when lit! I had first tried using fairy lights, which also looked great, but I only had one small strand, and they didn’t quite light up the whole thing, so I switched to the candle. However, the fairy lights do work well too, as long as you have enough to fill the whole thing!

If you would like info on how you can create your own luminary, you can download my FREE project sheet HERE, or by clicking the image below. It contains a complete supply list, instructions, and all measurements needed!

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about this project!

Thank so much for visiting, and have a safe and Happy 4th of July!

3D Thursday: Patriotic Mini Paper Pumpkin Box

Twila Davis is our designer this week for 3D Thursday! She has created this sweet Fourth of July themed hanging decor, using one of the NEW Mini Paper Pumpkin Boxes and various ribbons and trims! Such a fun, easy idea!

The Mini Paper Pumpkin Boxes are a NEW item in this year’s Annual Catalog. They come in a pack of 10 for $7.50. They have a nice matte finish, so you can decorate them with paper and embellishments OR you can easily apply ink. Twila did both for this project!

If you would like more information on Twila’s project, you can download her FREE project sheet, which includes step by step instructions, as well as a complete supply list. Click HERE to download, or click the image below!

Grateful for Those Who Fought and Died for our Freedom

Today in the US, we celebrate Memorial Day, which recognizes those who fought and died for the freedoms we are so blessed to have here.  I come from a family that has many military servicemen and women, both past and present.  I also have many friends who are either former service members, or are currently serving.  Friend or family, I am so grateful for them all, as well as their service.  I am even more grateful that those I love have all come home safely.  I realize not everyone who has loved ones who serve can say that.

My card today was actually made last year, but I have never shared it here, so I decided to share it today.  It is a very simple design, made in red, white, and blue, with the Loyal & True stamp set.  The only added embellishments are a few silver Metallic Enamel Shapes.

Measurements for this card are as follows:

Night of Navy cardstock card base:  5-1/2 x 8-1/2 inches (scored at 4-1/4 inches and folded in half)

Real Red middle layer:  3-3/4 x 5 inches

Whisper White top layer:  3-5/8 x 4-7/8 inches

I hope that wherever you are and whatever you do, that you have a great day today!  If you are in the US, please take a moment to remember why we celebrate today! Thank you for stopping by!
