Color Fusers Blog Hop for January 2021

It’s time for our first Color Fuser’s Blog Hop of 2021! We are starting off the new year with a really pretty combination of Mango Melody, Melon Mambo, Garden Green, and Pacific Point. I hope you will hop through our whole team’s pages to see what everyone has created this month with this gorgeous color combo!

For my project, I used the NEW Forever & Always Bundle, which will be available on January 5th! This bundle combines gorgeous florals with large, flowing script, as well as some small, but bold sentiments. To make the flowers, I used the baby wipe technique to combine some Melon Mambo and Mango Melody inks. I took a baby wipe, folded it in half, then in half again. I then made a circle with drops of ink from my Mango Melody reinker, and then added a few drops of Melon Mambo to the center. I spritzed it with a little water, and gave it a few minutes to spread and settle a bit. I used it to ink up the flower stamps and stamped them on Shimmery White cardstock. Once they were dry, I cut them out using the coordinating dies from the bundle and set them aside. I also stamped two sets of leaves in Garden Green ink, then used a Water Painter to VERY lightly watercolor them. Once they were dry, I set them aside as well.

I wanted to add a strip of green DSP below the flowers and behind the sentiment, but I couldn’t find a Garden Green piece that I liked for this card, so I made one myself. I took a piece of Shimmery White cardstock, then used one of the new Blending Brushes to color it with some Garden Green ink. I then used a stamp from the Inspiring Iris stamp set, stamped it a few times on the blended green in Versamark ink, and heat embossed it in white embossing powder.

I stamped the Love sentiment in Melon Mambo ink, and framed it with a die from the Stitched So Sweetly Dies. I also spattered the top layer of the card with Pacific Point ink. Once all of my pieces were stamped and cut, I assembled the card.

Measurements for this card are as follows:

Whisper White Thick Cardstock base: 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 inches (scored at 4-1/4 inches and folded in half)

Melon Mambo middle layer: 3-7/8 x 5-1/8 inches

Shimmery White top layer: 3-3/4 x 5 inches

Shimmery White blended piece: 1-1/2 x 3 inches

Shimmery White piece for flowers/leaves: 3 x 4 inches

Shimmery Whote sentiment piece: 1-5/8 x 2-3/4 inches

To assemble the card, I used Stampin’ Seal to adhere the layers and green background piece. I mounted the flowers, leaves, and sentiment with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I stamped the second part of the sentiment (YOU) in Mango Melody ink directly onto the card, and finished the card with a couple of NEW Opal Rounds and a little Wink of Stella in the flowers’ centers. Finally, I stamped a coordinating envelope, and my project for this month was complete!

Color Fusers Blog Hop for December 2020

Happy December! Can you believe this year is FINALLY almost over? I don’t know about you, but I am definitely ready for a better 2021! December is always crazy for me. In addition to the holiday craziness that everyone has, I also have BOTH of my boys’ birthdays! It’s a hectic, but fun month! 🙂

Today, the Color Fusers team has a beautiful combination of Pretty Peacock, Night of Navy, and Granny Apple Green to share! Greens and blues are my favorite colors. So when I saw this month’s combo, I was excited to get to creating! I decided to use an all new product suite called the Art Gallery Suite, which will be available in the NEW January – June Mini Catalog (the catalog formerly known as the “Occasions Catalog”). This suite features some gorgeous florals and simple sentiments that you are going to love!

For my card today, I used a Whisper White base, layered with Granny Apple Green and Night of Navy for the top. The top layer is embossed with a new 3D Embossing Folder called Painted Texture. To enhance the pattern of the folder, I first inked up the folder with VersaMark ink. Doing this applies the ink to the cardstock as it embossed, and gives a nice variation in color and texture throughout the finished piece!

To make this card, I used Thick Whisper White Cardstock as my base. I cut a piece 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 inches and folded it in half. I stamped paint spatters in the corners with a stamp from the Waterfront stamp set in Granny Apple Green ink. I cut the middle layer of Granny Apple Green cardstock, and the top layer of Night of Navy (measurements below). I then inked up the 3D Painted Texure Embossing Folder with VersaMark and ran it through my Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine. Once my layers were complete, I stamped my flower and sentiment:

My flower stem was stamped on the NEW Oh So Ombre Designer Series Paper, which can be earned with a $50 purchase beginning January 5th! It’s hard to tell from the picture, but there is a nice variation in color on the paper behind the stamped stem and leaves. I originally stamped my flower on regular Whisper White cardstock, but then I decided that I wanted the flower to be similar to the stem in terms of having a variation in color. So I used the NEW Blending Brushes to apply Pretty Peacock ink to a piece of Whisper White cardstock, and blended the color until I got the color I was looking for:

I then stamped the flower in Pretty Peacock on top of the blended color, stamping it off once first. Then I stamped the top layer in full strength Pretty Peacock ink, and the center in Night of Navy:

Once the flower was complete, I cut it out using the coordinating Floral Gallery Dies. I then went over the center with a touch of Wink of Stella to accent it a bit!

I assembled the layers of the card, and decided to make them asymmetrical. I adhered the flower and then the sentiment, which was heat embossed in white Stampin’ Emboss powder, and cut with the small frame die from the Floral Gallery Dies. Both the flower and sentiment were applied with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals. I finished the card with some Elegant Faceted Gems colored with my Dark Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Blends Marker. Once the gems were applied, my card was complete! I tried a few different ribbons and twines to add a bow somewhere, but none of them looked right to me, so I decided to leave it off. Even though the layout is simple, there’s lots of detail added in other ways!

Measurements for this card are as follows:

Thick Whisper White Card base: 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 inches (scored at 4-1/4 inches and folded in half)

Granny Apple Green cardstock middle layer: 3-3/4 x 5 inches

Night of Navy cardstock top layer: 3-3/4 x 5 inches

Oh so Ombre DSP stem piece: 2-1/2 x 2-1/4 inches

Pretty Peacock Floral piece: 2 x 2-1/4 inches

Pretty Peacock sentiment piece: 1/2 x 1-1/2 inches

Color Fusers Blog Hop for November 2020

Welcome to our November Color Fuser’s Blog Hop! We got about four inches of snow where I live in CT on Friday, so I wanted to do something with bright and sunny flowers for my post today! My card features the Poppy Moments Dies, as well as a pretty color combo this month of Bumblebee, Poppy Parade, and Shaded Spruce!

To make the flowers for this card, I made a watercolor wash with Poppy Parade and Bumblebee reinkers, making sure to blend them a bit in the middle. Once the paper was dry, I cut the back layers of the flowers, and then cut the top layers from Poppy Parade and Bumblebee cardstock. I adhered the two layers for each flower together with multipurpose glue, then added the centers which were cut from Basic Black cardstock. I also cut some leaves in Shaded Spruce to incorporate it into the project. The Poppy Moments Dies contain all of the pieces you need to create full, perfect flowers! You can see the complete set below:

Another way I incorporated the Shaded Spruce is to add some light paint spatters in the background. I used a stamp from the Waterfront set and stamped off the ink twice before stamping the spatters onto the card. This way, they weren’t super dark, and were a more subtle addition to my project.

In addition to the Shaded Spruce leaves, I added some vellum sprigs and gold leaves as well. I also heat embossed the sentiment in gold, which is from the Tasteful Touches stamp set. I don’t use a lot of gold in my projects as I tend to prefer silver, but I do really like the way the gold looks with the colors we used this month! Take a look at the shiny leaves and sentiment in the picture below:

Finally, I added some Wink of Stella to the flowers’ centers, and some Gold Glitter Enamel Dots to finish the card. Now it is ready to send off to a friend in this week’s mail!

Measurements for this card are as follows:

Basic Black cardstock base: 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 inches (scored at 4-1/4 inches and folded in half).

Shimmery White cardstock top layer: 4 x 5-1/4 iinches

Poppy Parade flower piece: approximately 3 x 3 inches

Bumblebee flower piece: approximately 2 x 2 inches

Shaded Spruce leaves: size varies

Color Fusers Blog Hop for August 2020

Happy August, Everyone! It’s the first Monday of the month, so it’s time for our August Color Fusers Blog hop! Today we have a pretty combo of Purple Posy, Gorgeous Grape, and Granny Apple Green to share!

For my card today, I used the Forever Blossoms and Love of Leaves stamp sets. The flowers are heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. Prior to embossing, I used Water Painters and Gorgeous Grape ink to color behind the flowers. Once the piece was dry, I heat embossed the image. I then heat embossed the sentiment onto a small piece of Gorgeous Grape cardstock, and trimmed with a die from the Stitched So Sweetly dies set.

I used the Woodland Embossing Folder for the white background layer, and used my Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Blends to add color to some small Rhinestones before adding them to the card. I also added a Granny Apple Green Strip behind the main image for some contrast. The main image and sentiment are adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals to make them pop a bit. I then went over the centers of the flowers with some Wink of Stella (though it’s really hard to see in the pictures!)

Measurements for this card are as follows:

Purple Posy cardstock base: 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 inches (scored at 4-1/4 inches and folded in half)

Whisper White background layer: 4 x 5-1/4 inches

Thick Whisper White card stock backing layer**: 3-1/8 x 4-1/2 inches

Whisper White water colored and embossed piece**: 3 x 4-3/8 inches

Granny Apple Green strip: 1 x 4 inches

Gorgeous Grape sentiment piece: 3/4 x 1-3/4 (approximate)

** In the process of watercoloring and heat embossing the cardstock for the flowers, the cardstock got a little warped. To flatten it out, I used Adhesive Sheets on the entire back of the piece and then adhered it to a piece of Thick Whisper White cardstock. I then ran it through my die cutting machine backwards and forwards a few times. This adhered it really well, as well as flattened all the bumps and warped areas, almost as if it had been ironed. I also used extra Stampin’ Dimensionals when adding it to the card to make sure that it stayed flat once mounted on the card.

Thanks so much for visiting today! I hope that you will continue through our hop to see what the rest of our team has created this month! Please continue on to Bonnie O’Neill’s page to see the next project!

Have a great day!

Color Fusers Blog Hop for July 2020

Happy July! I hope everyone enjoyed the holiday weekend. It was quiet and different for us this year, but still fun!

It’s the first Monday of the month so it’s time for our Color Fusers Blog Hop for July! We’ve got a pretty combo of Calypso Coral, Pacific Point, and Coastal Cabana to share today:

For my card today, I embossed a piece of Pacific Point cardstock with the new Dandelions 3D Embossing Folder. But before I did, I inked up the folder with VersaMark ink. Doing this creates some nice variation in color between the raised embossed image and the flat background of the design. It’s hard to see in the pictures, but the cardstock looks almost like velvet in person! Here is another card I made recently using the same technique. You can see the color variation a little better on this one:

For the card I made for today, I layered the Pacific Point top layer over a middle layer of Coastal Cabana, which was then layered over a Thick Whisper White card base. I added a tiny butterfly in Calypso Coral, and stamped the sentiment in that color as well. I also colored some Whisper White 1/4″ Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon with my Calypso Coral Stampin’ Blends Markers. When it was done, I wanted the color to be a little lighter, so I washed the ribbon with a drop of dish soap and let it dry. I was surprised to see that the ribbon did not have uniform color after doing so, but I kind of like it! It has almost a light ombre effect when you see it up close!

Measurements for this card are as follows:

Thick Whisper White cardstock base: 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 inches (scored at 4-1/4 inches and folded in half)

Calypso Coral cardstock middle layer: 4 x 5-1/4 inches

Pacific Point cardstock top layer: 3-3/4 x 5 inches

Calypso Coral butterfly: 1/2 x 3/4 inch (approximate)

Whisper White sentiment piece: 2-1/4 x 1-1/8 inches

I finished the card with some small rhinestones on the butterfly, and sponged some Wink of Stella onto the heads of the dandelions. I did this by brushing the Wink of Stella onto a sponger dauber and just lightly circling it onto each flower. Again, it’s hard to see in the pictures, but it’s a nice added touch in person!

I hope you have enjoyed my project today! Please continue through the rest of the hop to see what the rest of my talented teammates have created. Next up is Tami Hewlett!

Have a fantastic day!

3D Thursday: Sunflower Seed Packet Favor

It’s my turn to create for 3D Thursday, and I have created a way to dress up seed packets for weddings, showers, and more! I was looking for something on Etsy last week, and a bunch of customized seed packet envelopes came up, which I thought was a great idea. So of course, I had to try to create one of my own. What do you think?

I’m really happy with how it came out. I used a bunch of NEW products from the new Annual Catalog, which just went live YESTERDAY! The envelope is made from the new In Good Taste Designer Series Paper; the belly band is made from Ornate Garden Specialty Designer Series Paper; the sunflower was made using the Celebrate Sunflowers Bundle; and it also features one of our new In Colors for 2020-2022: Bumblebee!

The envelope was designed to be opened and closed without having to be sealed. I did not seal the flap on the envelope intentionally, so that it could be opened and closed without tearing. The belly band holds it closed when it’s on, which can easily be slipped on and off as needed. I included a packet of sunflower seeds to go with the sunflower theme of the project, but we have so many pretty flower stamps and dies in the new catalog, I can imagine making these with other types of flowers and seeds as well!

The measurements of my final project are as follows:

Finished envelope: 3-1/2 x 5-3/8 inches

Belly band: 3-9/16 across x 3-1/2 inches tall (just the front dimensions)

Sunflower: Approximately 3-1/4 inches in diameter

Sentiment piece: 3/4 x 3 inches

If you would like to make this project, please download my FREE project sheet HERE or by clicking on the image below. It includes step-by-step instructions (with all measurements), as well as a complete supply list!

I hope you have enjoyed my project! Thank you so much for stopping by!

Color Fusers Blog Hop for June 2020

Happy June, Everyone! What a great way to start off the month, with a Color Fusers blog hop, a gorgeous color combo, and products from the NEW Annual Catalog, which goes live in only TWO days! Our color combo today is a very pretty combination of Petal Pink, Melon Mambo, and Pool Party!

My project today features (mostly) products from the new catalog. The background images were created with stamps from the new Forever Fern set. The sentiment is from the new Lovely You stamp set, and is heat embossed in white on Basic Black card stock. I also used new ribbon and embellishments, which I will get to in just a bit! For now, here’s a sneak peek at the two stamp sets I used:

Forever Fern Stamp Set
Lovely You Stamp Set

When making this card, I really wanted to use Melon Mambo ribbon, but I do not currently have any in my stash. So I used some of the new White Faux Linen Ribbon from the Flowers for Every Season Ribbon Combo Pack and dyed it with my Melon Mambo ink refill. It was really easy to do! I used a small clear plastic cup, added about 1/2 inch of water, 10 drops of ink, and a splash of isopropyl alcohol. After stirring it well, I submerged the ribbon and let it sit for 10 minutes or so, then removed it and laid it flat on a paper towel. I used the paper towel to blot as much of the water out as possible, then dried it the rest of the way with my hair dryer. The ribbon held the color really well. Next time, I think I will leave it in longer to see if I can get a deeper color, but even the lighter pink coordinates well, as it’s just a lighter shade of Melon Mambo!

In addition to the leaves, I also stamped some small splatters all over the background in Petal Pink ink. The splatter stamp is also from the Forever Fern set. And the droplet embellishments are from the NEW Flowers for Every Season Gems. They are not adhesive backed, so I just used a very small dab of glue and placed them with my Take Your Pick Tool.

Measurements for this card are as follows:

Thick Whisper White card stock card base: 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 inches (scored at 4-1/4 inches and folded in half)

Pool Party card stock middle layer: 4 x 5-1/4 inches

Whisper White card stock top layer: 3-3/4 x 5 inches

Basic Black card stock sentiment piece: 1-1/8 x 2-1/4 inches

Although this card is made with mostly new products, there is still time to get your favorite retiring products! But you only have until tomorrow night to get them! Click HERE to shop the Last Chance Products section of my online store, and stock up on your favorites before they are gone for good!

Thank you so much for stopping by today! Next up is Tami Hewlett, who always has something beautiful to share!

Color Fusers Blog Hop for May 2020

Happy May, Everyone! April flew by, despite many challenges, and I have tremendous hope that we will finally start seeing some good news this month! Our color combo this month is a bright, sunny combo of Call Me Clover, Night of Navy, and Pineapple Punch. TWO of these colors are retiring June 2nd, so if you love them, stock up while you can!

I realized last night about 9:30 pm that I had this hop today. For some reason, I thought it was NEXT week. Oops! This card layout is pretty much my go-to layout when I need a card quickly. It’s simple in design and easy to create, and by adding texture, embellishments, etc., you can dress it up to look really nice! Some added touches on this card include paint spatters in the background, the use of Shimmery White cardstock for the top layer, stitched edging, pearls, an embossed middle layer, and a simple bow!

Measurements for this card are as follows:

Night of Navy cardstock base: 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 inches (scored at 4-1/4 inches and folded in half)

Call Me Clover cardstock layer: 3-3/4 x 5 inches

Shimmery White cardstock layer: 3 x 4-3/8 inches

Shimmery White cardstock insert: 4 x 5-1/4 inches

My flowers were stamped in Black StazOn ink, and watercolored using Aqua Painters. After coloring the flowers, I swirled some green into the yellow before I did the paint spatters, and though it’s hard to tell from the pictures, some of them have an almost ombre effect! The flowers are from the Painted Poppies stamp set and the sentiment is from the Here’s a Card set.

As mentioned above, TWO of the colors we used today are retiring June 2nd. They are Pineapple Punch and Call Me Clover. Be sure to visit the online store HERE to stock up on your favorites before they’re gone for good! Typically, retiring color products sell out quickly, so order ASAP to avoid disappointment!

Be sure to check out the Last Chance Products section of the online store for ALL retiring products, in addition to the retiring In Colors! Some items have been marked down, and ALL retiring products are only available while supplies last.

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you are happy and well. Please continue to the next stop on our hop, which is Melanie Hockin’s page!

Enjoy your day! 🙂
