My niece, Claire, graduated from high school last month and recently began training at the Merchant Marine Academy in New York. I made this card for her and will send it off this week. Right now, she is participating in what amounts to boot camp, and I have heard that she is doing well, but it’s got to be incredibly difficult. She is feisty and strong, so I know she’ll make it, but I want to let her know we’re thinking of her!
For this card, I used a few different stamp sets. The main image/sentiment is from Here’s to Strong Women. The stars and dots in the corner are from Little Twinkle, and the anchor is from Sailing Home. The anchor was cut using the anchor die from the Smooth Sailing Dies, which right now can be bundled with the Sailing Home stamp set for a savings of 10%!
Colors for this card are Real Red, Night of Navy, Sahara Sand, and Whisper White. The sentiment was created using the Baby Wipe technique, where drops of ink from Real Red and Night of Navy re-inkers were dropped onto a baby wipe so they mix a bit, then the stamp was inked from there. I like the variation in color this technique produced for the sentiment! I also used the same baby wipe “ink pad” for the stars and polka dots in the corners.
Measurements for this card are as follows:
Night of Navy card stock base: 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 inches (scored at 4-1/4 inches and folded in half)
Real Red middle layer: 3-11/16 x 5 inches
Whisper White top layer: 3-3/8 x 4-3/4 inches
Anchor piece: 1-1/4 x 1-3/4 inches
Once my layers were stamped and assembled, I added some Night of Navy/Sahara Sand Baker’s Twine to the anchor and adhered it with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals. I also cut some stars from Silver Glimmer Paper using the Twinkle Builder Punch and added them with Multipurpose Glue. Once those little details were added, my card was complete!
Thanks so much for stopping by today!
