3D Thursday: Dinosaur Tin Playset

It’s Thursday! And wait until you see what teammate Twila Davis has created for this week’s 3D Thursday project! It’s so fun! Ready? ….

I am definitely a Tic Tac girl, but I think I am going to have grab some Altoids just so I can make these for my boys! Twila used an empty Altoids tin, items from Stampin’ Up’s Dinoroar Suite, as well as some dollar store plastic dinosaurs to make this project. Here’s what it looks like when it’s closed:

I wonder if making this with my boys could count toward their art class during quarantine? I will have to check with their teacher! 😉

If you would like to download Twila’s instruction sheet, you can click HERE or click on the image below:

You can view the entire Dinoroar Suite in the online store HERE. While you’re there, be sure to check out the online Clearance Rack too. It was just restocked this week with some GREAT deals!

Thank you for visiting today! Stay safe and well!

Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits Card…with a (Peppermint) Twist

Last week, I read a blog post about a card that was scented with essential oils.  I was completely intrigued, so I decided to give it a try myself!  The key is to mix the essential oil with embossing paste.  For this card, I decided to use peppermint essential oil.  I added one drop of the oil to 1/2 tablespoon of the embossing paste and mixed well before applying it to the card.  It smells so good!

This card uses a mix of products from the annual catalog, both new and returning.  The dragonfly was made using the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits and there are also some vellum leaves made with the Leaf Punch.  Both of these items are returning favorites from previous catalogs!  New products include the Colored Doilies (I used the white side), the Rooted in Nature stamp set for the sentiment, and the upcoming Stitched Seasons Thinlits dies for the light green leaves (available August 1st).

Measurements for this card are as follows:

Thick Whisper White card stock base:  5-1/2 x 8-1/2 inches (scored at 4-1/4 inches and folded in half)

Basic Black middle layer:  4 x 5-1/4 inches

Balmy Blue top layer: 3-7/8 x 5-1/8 inches

Basic Black circle behind dragonfly: 2-1/4 inches in diameter

Sparkle Glimmer Paper dragonfly:  3-1/4 x 2-1/4 inches

Whisper White sentiment circle: 1-3/8 inches

Vellum leaves:  1-1/2 x 2-1/2 inches

Soft Sea Foam Leaves:  2 x 3/4 inches

The card was embellished with some Whisper White 1/8 inch sheer ribbon and a few iridescent sequins.  The scent definitely adds something different!  (Although I couldn’t help but want to eat it at one point!  LOL!)   If you have any questions about how this card was made, please let me know!

Thanks for checking in today!

Copper Foil Wedding Card with Flourish Thinlits

Weddings usually call for something a little more elegant than your average, everyday card.  There are a few different ways that you can step up the wow factor, while still keeping things simple!  For this card, I used a combination of Shimmery White Cardstock, Copper Foil Sheets, and glittery Embossing Paste to make this card more elegant!

First, I used Shimmery White Cardstock to make both the card base and top layer of this card. Next, I mixed some Dazzling Diamonds glitter into a small amount of Embossing Paste and applied to the top layer using Palette Knives and the Pattern Party Decorative Masks. The Embossing Paste does takes a bit of time to dry, so I set the top layer aside while I worked on the rest of the card.

I used my Big Shot and Flourish Thinlits to cut the large flourish from Copper Foil Sheets.  I stamped the “Side by Side” sentiment, which is from the Beautiful Bouquet Photopolymer stamp set, in Basic Black Archival Ink, just below the bottom edge of the Embossing Paste. I adhered the flourish using Multipurpose Glue. Once the top layer was fully completed, I adhered it to the base using Stampin’ Dimensionals. Using the Dimensionals gives the card added detail to step it up a bit a more!
