A Butterfly Gala Birthday Card

My sister’s birthday was this past Saturday. She LOVES butterflies, so I definitely wanted to make her a card that featured them! This card was cased from a card by demonstrator Mary Fish. You can see her original card HERE.

My version features the Butterfly Gala stamp set and coordinating Butterfly Duet punch. The sentiment is from the Perennial Birthday stamp set. Colors are Merry Merlot, Sahara Sand, Soft Suede, and Very Vanilla.

The Designer Series Paper I used for the script background is from the Pressed Petals Specialty Designer Series Paper. I also used the Subtle #D Embossing Folder on the Sahara Sand layer. I love the added touch of the script and the texture!

Measurements for this card are as follows:

Thick Very Vanilla cardstock base: 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 inches (scored at 4-1/4 inches and folded in half)

Sahara Sand layer: 4 x 5-1/4 inches

DSP piece: 3-1/4 x 3-1/4 inches

Merry Merlot cardstock piece for butterflies: 3 x 4 inches

Very Vanilla piece for sentiment piece: 1 x 4-1/4 inches (before punched)

The banner piece was adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals to make it pop a little, a few pearls were added to dress up the butterfly, and the card was complete!

This card could definitely be use for many different occasions just by switching up the paper and sentiment!

Hope you like it! Thanks for stopping by!

Simple Stamping Sunday: So Hoppy Together

My Simple Stamping card for this week uses the So Hoppy Together stamp set, which can be earned for FREE with a $50 order now through March 31st! I LOVE frogs, so when I saw this stamp set, I instantly fell in love with it. The simple lines and sentiments make it perfect for a Simple Stamping card!

To make this card, I stamped the frog in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. This particular image is actually part of a larger image of the frog riding a unicycle. I wanted to use the frog by itself, so I used clear tape to cover the bottom portion of the stamp before inking it. Once the stamp was fully inked, I removed the tape and then stamped it onto my card. Here’s a peek at the full set so you can see what the whole stamp looks like, as well as the rest of the set:

For this card, I also used a different notecard than what I usually use. I used one of the small notecards from the Memories & More Notecards and Envelopes set. These small cards measure 3-1/4 x 4-1/4 inches and come with coordinating envelopes! (A regular notecard is 3-1/2 x 5 inches in size, so it’s just slightly smaller).

The frog is colored with Granny Apple Green and Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends markers, and the sentiment is stamped in Melon Mambo ink. The little flies are colored with Balmy Blue Stampin’ Blends! I love the way he came out. I think he’s so cute!

If you would like to get this set, right now is the perfect time to do so! Now through Febrary 7th, I am running a Sale-a-Bration special where you can earn EXTRA free items and rewards, just for placing an order of $50 or more (before tax and shipping!) Earn EXTRA Sale-a-Bration items AND Stampin’ Rewards! If you would like more info, or would like to place an order, please email me at nicollebelesimo@gmail.com! (Please note, orders MUST be placed through me directly. Orders placed online in the online store will not qualify!)

Simple Stamping Sunday: Rooted in Nature

In yesterday’s post, I gave a brief introduction to Stampin’ Up’s new campaign for 2019: Simple Stamping. The goal of Simple Stamping is to introduce stamping to beginning stampers and help them learn and build confidence in creating beautiful cards and projects with only very basic stamping supplies. For a card to be considered a Simple Stamping card, it must only use three products: a notecard for the base, ONE stamp set, and ink. That’s it! No layers, no embellishments, no punches, dies, or other decoration, no Designer Series Paper…just the three basic supplies mentioned above! For an avid crafter who has been stamping for a long time and likes to embellish everything, the thought of doing something so simple is surprisingly daunting! But looking at it through the eyes of a beginner makes it a little easier to understand the premise behind it!

My card today is my very first attempt at a Simple Stamping card, and I made it according to guidelines set forth by Stampin’ Up! for a December Challenge. (Nothing like waiting until the last minute, right?!) The guidelines for this month’s Simple Stamping challenge were to make a thank you card using only one stamp set from the Annual Catalog. My first thought was that I could also only use one color ink, but I found out after I had already completed the card that I could have used multiple colors. Oh well! I am still really happy with the final product! I LOVE monochromatic cards, especially in green, as it is my favorite color!

For this card, I used a base from the Very Vanilla Notecards and Envelopes. These cards come 20 to a package, and come with matching envelopes. (They are also available in Whisper White!) The notecards are slightly smaller than a regular size card. They measure 3-1/2 x 5 inches in size, as opposed to the full size of 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 inches, but there is still plenty of room to make a beautiful card! I also used the Rooted in Nature stamp set and Pear Pizzazz ink.

To dress this card up just a tiny bit, I used what’s called the “Kissing technique” to make the background behind the leaf image. In the stamp set I used, there is a large stamp of a cross section of a tree. I inked it up with the Pear Pizzazz ink, then stamped it off once, as I didn’t want it to be too dark. I then took my Clear Block C and pressed it onto the stamp to transfer the ink from the stamp to the block. Because the ink was coming off a stamp, not only did the ink transfer, but the pattern of the stamp also transferred! (This is the “kissing” part of the technique.) I then stamped the block directly onto the notecard. Once it was dry, I stamped the leaves in full strength ink, as well as the sentiment underneath it. And the card was done!

I will admit, my first instinct after finishing this card was to reach for some sequins and Wink of Stella! But per the Simple Stamping rules, I was good and did not add any! (Though it was really hard not to!) My normal style tends to be pretty simple anyway, but this is so much simpler than what I usually make. I do love the simplicity of this card though!

I hope you will consider giving Simple Stamping a try! Not only is great for new stampers, it’s also great when you need something fast. I made this card start to finish in less than five minutes (and that includes stamping the envelope too)!

A Bright and Fun Thank You Card

I don’t know about where you live, but the weather here in CT has been absolutely miserable!  It has been super cloudy and cold and rainy, and honestly, it’s starting to get depressing.  So I sat down to make a card on Saturday, and I really wanted it to be bright and fun.  Green is my favorite color, and I bought the Bee Thankful stamp when it was on sale a couple weeks ago, so I decided to put something together that combined those two things.  I looked at my Stampin’ Blends and I realized that there are six greens in the Blends, and there are six letters in “thanks”, so I decided to make each letter a different shade!  (In order, they are Soft Sea Foam, Call Me Clover, Granny Apple Green, Mint Macaron, Old Olive, and Shaded Spruce.) I went with Granny Apple Green cardstock for the base, and accented the image with Daffodil Delight Blends on the bee, as well as the backing layer of the image.  I added some small flowers from the Wishing You Well set in the corners with VersaMark ink, offset the main image a bit so it’s not completely straight, and was left with a pretty cute and fun card for that I plan to send to someone special!

After the card was assembled, I needed to embellish a bit.  I added some Wink of Stella to the leaves and wings and antennae of the bee.  I also added 1/2 of a Pearlized Doily behind the main image.  The Wink of Stella and the shimmer of the doily add just a hint of shine to this card, for just a perfect amount of added detail!

Measurements for this card are as follows:

Granny Apple Green card stock base:  5-1/2 x 8-1/2 inches x 8-1/2 inches (scored at 4-1/4 and folded in half)

Daffodil Delight middle layer:  3-3/16 x 5-3/16 inches

Whisper White Top Layer:  3 x 5 inches

I really love the combination of all the different greens on this card!  It definitely brightened my day to make it!  (Now if the sun would just come out for a bit, all would be well!)  🙂

Thanks for checking in today!  Happy Sunday!

It’s a Merry Monday with the Detailed Deer Thinlits and Stylish Christmas Stamp Set

My card today features a simple design created with the Detailed Deer Thinlits, Stylish Christmas stamp set, and Wood Textures Designer Series Paper!

This card was quick and easy to create!  I cut the Thick Whisper White card stock base, then the middle layer from Cherry Cobbler card stock, and the top layer from regular Whisper White (measurements for each can be found below).  I then ran the top layer through the Big Shot with the large flying deer die.  After the deer was cut out, I adhered a piece of the Wood Textures DSP to the back of the top layer with SNAIL adhesive, so that it showed through the top.  I then stamped the sentiment in Old Olive ink, and adhered the top layer to the middle Cherry Cobbler layer with SNAIL.  I then adhered those to the card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I added the Old Olive Sheer Ribbon bow and a couple of stars from the Twinkle Adhesive Backed Sequins and the card was complete!

Measurements for this card are as follows:

Thick Whisper White card stock base:  5-1/2 x 8-1/2 inches (scored at 4-1/4 inches and folded in half)

Cherry Cobbler middle layer:  3-7/8 x 5-1/8 inches

Whisper White top layer:  3-3/4 x 5 inches

Wood Textures DSP layer:  3 x 3-3/4 inches

Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive, and Whisper White has always been my go to red, green, and white color combo for Christmas.  I really love the way they look together.  I also love the simple design of this card, and I hope you do too!  Sometimes less is more!

Thanks for stopping by!

Keeping it Simple with Dandelion Wishes!

This weekend, I needed something quick and easy!  I was scrolling through PInterest and saw the above color combo and thought the colors looked really great together.  I also scrolled through my new stamp sets and realized that I had not yet used my Dandelion Wishes set, so I decided to go ahead and use it for this card!  This card has an incredibly simple layout, which makes it perfect for beginning crafters, or for someone who needs something quickly (like me)!

For this card, I used Coastal Cabana, Basic Gray, and Whisper White as my colors.  I used VersaMark ink to stamp the flowers and sentiment, and then heat embossed them both in white embossing powder.  I added an iridescent sequin to the center of each flower, and applied the sentiment piece with dimensionals to make it pop a bit!

Measurements for this card are as follows:

Thick Whisper White cardstock base:  5-1/2 x 8-1/2 inches

Coastal Cabana layer:  3 x 5 inches

Basic Gray sentiment piece:  1-1/4 x 3-1/2 inches

This card is definitely simpler than what I usually make, but sometimes there’s just not enough time to make something more detailed!  I really love the simplicity of this card!  It would definitely still brighten someone’s day!  🙂

It’s Merry Monday with the Feather & Frost Stamp Set!

It’s time for another Merry Monday project!  This week’s project features the new Feather & Frost stamp set, as well as the Joyous Noel Specialty Designer Series Paper.  This card would be a perfect card for beginning stampers, as the layout is simple and easy to recreate, OR would be perfect if you need something quick and easy for the holidays!

The Feather & Frost stamp set is a photopolymer set that includes 13 stamps.  The image stamps in this set are perfect for coloring:

For my card, I stamped the leaves and berries in Tuxedo Black Memento ink.  Once dry, I colored them with Mint Macaron Stampin’ Blends, as well as my Merry Merlot Stampin’ Write Marker, and cut them out using the Layering Squares Framelits.   I stamped the Joy sentiment in Tranquil Tide ink, then punched it out with the 1-3/8 inch scalloped circle punch and adhered it to the main image.

The card was layered with the DSP background layer and a strip of Tranquil Tide cardstock, and then was wrapped four times with Linen Thread before adhering to the base.  The colored, scalloped square piece was adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals, ot give it a little detail and height. It was finished off with Tranquil Tide pearls from the Share What You Love Artisan Pearls embellishments!

Measurements for this card are as follows:

Tranquil Tide card stock base:  5-1/2 x 8-1/2 inches (scored at 4-1/4 inches and folded in half)

Sahara Sand middle layer:  3-7/8 x 5-1/8 inches

Joyous Noel DSP top layer:  3-3/4 x 5 inches

Whisper White scalloped square piece:  3 x 3 inches

Tranquil Tide strip behind square:  1-1/4 x 3-3/4 inches

Thank you for visiting today!  I hope you have a great day!

A Simple Thank You Made With Wishing You Well

My card today features the new Wishing You Well stamp set!  The set can be found on page 35 of the Holiday Catalog.  This gorgeous new set has photorealistic images of a bow, wreath, flowers, and more!  It includes 8 stamps in your choice of wood mount or clear mount, and has a nice mix of both images and sentiments!  Take a look at the full set below:

I decided to keep this card VERY simple.  Although the Wishing You Well set was used for the image and bow, the sentiment came from Itty Bitty Greetings, and the polka dot accents came from the Petal Palette set!

Measurements for this card are as follows:

Thick Whisper White card stock base:  5-1/2 x 8-1/2 inches (scored at 4-1/4 inches and folded in half)

Sahara Sand middle layer:  3-3/4 x 5 inches

Whisper White top layer:  3-1/2 x 4-3/4 inches

Bow piece:  1-1/4 x 2 inches (approximately)

I hope you’ve enjoyed my project today! Thanks so much for stopping by!

A Simple Sympathy Card Made with The Flourish Filigree Stamp Set

When I have to make a sympathy card for someone, I try to keep it simple.  It’s always so hard to know what to say to someone when they have suffered a loss.  For this card, I used a new set called Flourish Filigree as the main set.  It is in the Holiday Catalog, and is shown as being mostly used for holiday projects, but it can be used for so many other occasions!  The large filigree stamp is perfect for weddings, sympathy cards, monagrammed note cards, and more!  It’s really very elegant!

Here’s a peek at the full set:

For my card, I wanted to use the outline of the “Happy Christmas Wishes” stamp on my sentiment piece, but I didn’t want to use the sentiment inside.  So I covered the sentiment portion of the stamp with small pieces of scotch tape before inking it up.  Before stamping, I removed all the tape.  That way, I was still able to get the pretty outline without the sentiment.  I then added the sympathy greeting separately.  (The greeting is from the Flourishing Phrases stamp set.)

Measurements for this card are as follows:

Powder Pink cardstock base:  5-1/2 x 8-1/2 inches (scored at 4-1/4 inches and folded in half)

Shimmery White cardstock layer:  4 x 5-1/4 inches

Sentiment piece:  1-1/2 x 2-3/8 inches (approximately)

I hope you like my sweet and simple card!  Thanks for visiting!
