Color Fusers Blog Hop for September 2019

Welcome to our Color Fusers hop for September! Our creations this month feature a gorgeous combination of Rococo Rose, Merry Merlot, Night of Navy, and Mossy Meadow!

My project today features the Very Versailles, Butterfly Gala, and Tasteful Textures stamp sets. I used a Crumb Cake base, as well as Very Vanilla for the background and envelope. Most of the images for this card were stamped off prior to stamping the final images, as I wanted to soften all of the colors a bit for this project.

To create this card, I took the Very Vanilla top layer and very lightly sponged Crumb Cake ink around the edges, as well as very lightly across the surface to give it an aged, almost light tea stained look. (It’s easier to see it in person, as it’s very subtle, but it’s definitely there!) I then took the script stamp from the Very Versailles set and inked it with Crumb Cake ink. I stamped it off three times before stamping the lower left and upper right corners. I then re-inked it, and stamped it off 5 times before stamping the other two corners. I did not stamp them all off the same amount, as I wanted there to be a difference in the shading of the ink on the background. I then stamped the leaves in Mossy Meadow and the sentiment in Night of Navy. Both were stamped off once before stamping the final images.

The butterflies were stamped in Merry Merlot ink on Rococo Rose card stock, and punched with the Butterfly Duet punch. This punch coordinates perfectly with the Butterfly Gala stamp set! I layered my finished top layer with my base and Night of Navy middle layer. The top and middle layer are adhered with Snail adhesive, and then they were adhered to the base with Stampin’ Dimensionals. After the card was fully assembled, I applied pearls to the butterflies that were colored with an Ivory Stampin’ Blends Marker, so that they didn’t look so white against the Very Vanilla background. Once that was done, I added an inside layer with coordinating sentiment, and my card was complete!

Measurements for this card are as follows:

Crumb Cake card stock base: 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 inches (scored at 4-1/4 inches and folded in half)

Night of Navy card stock middle layer: 4 x 5-1/4 inches

Very Vanilla card stock top layer: 3-7/8 x 5-1/8 inches

Rococo Rose card stock piece for butterflies: 3 x 3 inches (both will fit on one piece)

I hope you have enjoyed my project today! Please continue through the rest of our hop to see what the rest of our team has created this month! Next up is Bonnie O’Neill, who always has something gorgeous to share!

A Butterfly Gala Birthday Card

My sister’s birthday was this past Saturday. She LOVES butterflies, so I definitely wanted to make her a card that featured them! This card was cased from a card by demonstrator Mary Fish. You can see her original card HERE.

My version features the Butterfly Gala stamp set and coordinating Butterfly Duet punch. The sentiment is from the Perennial Birthday stamp set. Colors are Merry Merlot, Sahara Sand, Soft Suede, and Very Vanilla.

The Designer Series Paper I used for the script background is from the Pressed Petals Specialty Designer Series Paper. I also used the Subtle #D Embossing Folder on the Sahara Sand layer. I love the added touch of the script and the texture!

Measurements for this card are as follows:

Thick Very Vanilla cardstock base: 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 inches (scored at 4-1/4 inches and folded in half)

Sahara Sand layer: 4 x 5-1/4 inches

DSP piece: 3-1/4 x 3-1/4 inches

Merry Merlot cardstock piece for butterflies: 3 x 4 inches

Very Vanilla piece for sentiment piece: 1 x 4-1/4 inches (before punched)

The banner piece was adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals to make it pop a little, a few pearls were added to dress up the butterfly, and the card was complete!

This card could definitely be use for many different occasions just by switching up the paper and sentiment!

Hope you like it! Thanks for stopping by!

A Simple Garden Lane Thank You

My project today features one of my favorite new products: the Garden Lane Designer Series Paper! It features gorgeous floral patterns in five (yes, FIVE) shades of green! Green is my favorite color, so when I saw this paper, I instantly fell in love with it! Here are the five greens, as well as a peek at the full array of designs in this paper:

For this card, I used Mint Macaron cardstock as the base, as well as Pear Pizzazz and Mint Macaron ink. These perfectly coordinate with the Mint Macaron ribbon looped behind the back of the sentiment piece.

The “thank you” sentiment is from the Love What You Do stamp set, and the tiny butterfly is from the Butterfly Gala set. It was punched with the coordinating Butterfly Duet Punch.

Measurements for this card are as follows:

Mint Macaron cardstock base: 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 inches (scored at 4-1/4 inches and folded in half)

Garden Lane DSP background layer: 4 x 5-1/4 inches

Whisper White Sentiment piece: 2 inches in diameter

Whisper White butterfly: 1 x 1 inch (approximate size)

This was a quick and easy thank you that was given to my son’s teacher at the end of the school year. I love its simplicity!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Another Butterfly Beauty Project!

Last week, I posted a card I made with the NEW Butterfly Beauty Thinlits Dies. There are two large dies in the set that layer together to make five, detailed, interconnected butterflies. For my card last week, I trimmed off the four smaller butterflies and used just the one large center one. Here’s what that card looked like in case you missed it:

And here’s what the thinlits dies look like:

I used the first large die to cut out the bottom layer in Powder Pink, and then used the second large die to cut out the detail in Sparkle Glimmer Paper.

After I made last week’s card, I held on to the four smaller butterflies that were trimmed off, and used two of them on my card for today! Other products featured on this card include the All My Love Designer Series Paper, Stitched Rectangle Framelits, Dragonfly Dreams stamp set, and Gingham Gala Sequins!

Measurements for this card are as follows:

Thick Whisper White card stock base: 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 inches (scored at 4-1/4 inches and folded in half)

DSP strip: 2-1/4 x 5-1/2 inches

Whisper White Stitched Rectangle layer: 2-5/8 x 4 inches

Small Butterfly: 1-1/4 x 1-1/2 inches (approximate)

Larger Butterfly: 2 x 1-3/4 inches (approximate)

And after two projects, I still have two more butterflies to use from that original die cut! So please be sure to check back soon to see how I use those as well!

Thanks for visiting today! Have a great day!

Dreaming of Spring with Butterfly Beauty Thinlits

As I sit here and write this, it is 2 degrees outside. TWO degrees! It is SO cold!!! I don’t normally mind winter, but when it’s this cold, I get pretty cranky. I am very much looking forward to Spring and warmer temperatures! One thing that always reminds me of nice weather is buttterflies. I just LOVE butterflies, and any craft supply item that has them. So when I saw the NEW Butterfly Beauty Thinlits Dies, I knew I needed to add them to my collection! You can take a look at the full set below:

This set contains dies to make lots of different sized butterflies. The two largest dies actually layer together to make five connected butterflies. These two dies are actually the ones I used for today’s card. I cut the bottom piece from Powder Pink card stock, and the top layer from Sparkle Glimmer Paper. I then adhered them together with Multipurpose Glue, and then trimmed off the four smaller butterflies so I was left with just one, large one. (I did save the other four, and plan to make other projects with them, which you will probably see very soon!)

The colors I chose for this card are Berry Burst, Lemon Lime Twist, Powder Pink, and Whisper White.

Measurements for this card are as follows:

Berry Burst card stock base: 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 inches (scored at 4-1/4 inches and folded in half)

Lemon Lime Twist middle layer: 3-7/8 x 5-1/8 inches

2017-2019 In Color DSP top layer: 3-3/4 x 5 inches

Sparkle Glimmer Paper/Powder Pink Butterfly piece: 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 inches*

Whisper White sentiment piece: 2-1/4 x 1-3/8 inches

*When trimmed, the single large butterfly is about 2-3/4 x 3-3/4 inches

You can find the thinlits and stamp set, as well as the cute flower sequins in the new Occasions Catalog. Everything else is in the Annual one. A complete supply list can be found below!

Thanks for stopping by! I hope wherever you are, it’s warmer than here! 🙂

Simple Stamping Sunday: Butterfly Gala

It’s another Simple Stamping Sunday post! This week, my card was made with the Butterfly Gala stamp set. I also used a combination of Blueberry Bushel, Pacific Point, Balmy Blue, Highland Heather, Gorgeous Grape, and Pool Party inks. The card base is a Whisper White Notecard.

Take a peek at the full stamp set used on this card:

I love this set because it contains a great mix of both images and sentiments! (Plus I LOVE butterflies!) The butterflies and sentiment were stamped in StazOn black ink. I also used one of the Uninked Spectrum Ink Pads and inked it with the following colors, in the order shown:

I found this color combination on Pinterest. It was put together by demonstrator Patty Bennett. (She has lots of great combinations for the spectrum pads on her page!) When I first stamped the colored portions of the wings, there were some blank white spots on the image so I used an Aqua Painter to blend the ink to fill in the spots!

Since Simple Stamping cards do not use any layers or embellishments, I wanted a way to dress the card up a bit. I used my Aqua Painter to add some spatters to the background, which were done in Pool Party ink!

So, just to recap, a Simple Stamping card only uses the following three products:

~ A 3-1/2 x 5 inch notecard base (in either Whisper White or Very Vanilla)

~ ONE stamp set

~ Ink (multiple colors are okay!)

And here are step by step instructions for completing this card:

  1. Fold the notecard along the score line and run your bone folder along the edge to sharpen the crease.
  2. Stamp the sentiment and butterflies in StazOn Black Ink. Set aside to dry for a few minutes.
  3. Use the spectrum ink pad to ink up the butterfly wing stamps and add color to the inside of all of the wings on both butterflies.
  4. Go over any white spots with an Aqua Painter to blend the ink.
  5. Add one drop of ink from the Pool Party ink refill to a clean, clear plastic stamping block. Squeeze the Aqua Painter to add a few drops of water and mix together to dilute. Get the tip of the Aqua Painter wet with the diluted ink, hold over the top of the card and tap repeatedly to create spatters. When you get the desired effect, set aside to dry.
  6. Stamp coordinating images on the envelope (if desired).

And that’s it! Please feel free to ask questions, and thanks for checking in!

A Bold Butterfly Birthday and the LAST DAY to order from the Holiday Catalog

Today’s card features one of the FREE Sale-a-Bration items from this year’s Sale-a-Bration brochure! The Occasions Catalog and Sale-a-Bration brochure for 2019 both go live TOMORROW, so I wanted to share a couple of new products from them in today’s post!

The butterfly background paper on this card is from the Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper. This paper is a full sized package of twelve, 12 x 12 inch double sided sheets, and can be earned as a FREE item with a $50 purchase (before tax and shipping) between January 3rd and March 31st! Like all regular DSPs, there are six double sided designs in the paper. It is absolutely gorgeous! Notice that half the prints are black and white and the other half are a mix of colors! Check it out:

For my card today, I paired one of the black and white designs with Petal Pink. I love how the black and white contrasts with the softness of the pink! I also used Shimmery White Cardstock for the middle layer, as well as the NEW Petal Pink/Whisper White 5/8″ Variegated Ribbon. The Happy Birthday die cut was cut using the Big Shot, and I went over the whole sentiment with a very light layer of Clear Wink of Stella.

I tried to get a close up of the shimmer from the Wink of Stella, but I’m not sure how well you can see it in the picture above. But it’s really subtle and pretty in person!

Measurements for this card are as follows:

Petal Pink cardstock base: 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 inches (scored at 4-1/4 inches and folded in half)

Shimmery White cardstock middle layer: 3-7/8 x 5-1/8 inches

DSP top layer: 3-3/4 x 5 inches

Petal Pink piece for the sentiment die cut: 3-1/2 x 3-1/4 inches

The card was embellished with the ribbon and a few rhinestones, and it was done! Hope you like it!

Also, don’t forget that TODAY is the LAST DAY to order from the Holiday Catalog!

Although I’m sad to see some of my favorite products retiring, I am excited about what’s coming in the new catalogs! Be sure to visit the online store to get your favorite retiring holiday products before it’s too late!

If you have any questions about today’s project or the catalogs, please let me know! Thanks for stopping by!

Abstract Impressions Thank You Card

Today’s card is very similar to a set of cards I made in June for my son’s teachers.  I needed to make some cards for customers, and I really like the way the ones I made in June came out!  So I decided to make more, but just switched up the colors!  My original cards from June can be seen below:

For my card today, I used paper from the Tea Room Specialty Designer Series Paper, along with stamps and dies from the Abstract Impressions Bundle.  Colors are Coastal Cabana, Pool Party, Crushed Curry, and Whisper White!

Measurements for this card are as follows:

Thick Whisper White card base:  5-1/2 x 8-1/2 inches (scored at 4-1/4 inches and folded in half)

Crushed Curry middle layer:  3-3/4 x 5 inches

Whisper White top layer:  3-5/8 x 4-7/8 inches

DSP Butterfly: 2-1/4 x 4 inches

This card is super simple to make, but so pretty!  It can easily be made for any occasion, just by switching up the sentiment!

Thanks for visiting today!

Tea Room Friendship Card

One of my favorite designer series papers in this year’s catalog is the Tea Room Specialty Designer Series Paper!  This paper has a great selection of beautiful patterns including flowers, bees, butterflies, and more.  And the colors are just gorgeous!  The pattern I used for today’s card is a mix of flowers, leaves, and butterflies, and is printed in shades of Crushed Curry.  I decided to pair the paper with Basic Gray, as I love the combination of yellow, gray, and white (though in this case, it’s Crushed Curry, Basic Gray, and Very Vanilla!)

The sentiment is from the Time for Tea photopolymer stamp set, and the scalloped layer behind the sentiment is from the Spot of Tea Framelits dies.  The paper, stamps, framelits, and the ribbon I used are all from the NEW Tea Room Suite!  The full suite of products can be found on pages 14-15 in the annual catalog, or you can view them HERE.

Besides the Tea Room ribbon, I embellished this card with some vellum leaves.  Some were cut with the Leaf Punch, and others were cut using a die from the Bouquet Bunch Framelits.  I also added some copper leaves from the Leaves Trinkets embellishments, as well as a couple of Share What You Love Artisan Pearls to finish it off!  Here’s a close up of the embellishments on and around the sentiment piece:

Measurements for this card are as follows:

Basic Gray card base:  5-1/2 x 8-1/2 inches (scored at 4-1/4 inches and folded in half)

Crushed Curry middle layer:  4 x 5-1/4 inches

DSP top layer: 3-7/8 x 5-1/8 inches

Basic Gray sentiment backing layer: 2-3/4 inches in diameter (approximately)

Very Vanilla sentiment piece:  2-1/4 inches in diameter

Vellum pieces for leaves: 1-3/4 x 2 inches (approximately)

You can find all of the products used on this card in the links below!

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great weekend!

Clean and Simple Thank You Cards

After almost two weeks of creating gifts and cards for school staff in two different schools, I still needed to make end of year thank you cards for Luca’s teachers.  I wanted something simple but colorful, so I pulled out my Abstract Impressions Bundle and Garden Impressions Designer Series Paper and made these!

While I decided to make the cards the same in terms of design, I didn’t want them to be exactly the same, so I decided to go with different colors for each teacher.  I borrowed the idea of cutting the butterfly from DSP from this month’s Artisan Design Team projects (see them HERE), and went with shades of pink for one teacher, and blues and yellows for the other!

On the above card, I used Melon Mambo for the middle layer and the sentiment.  On the other, I used Pacific Point cardstock for the middle layer and sentiment.  The sentiment is actually not from the Abstract Impressions bundle, but from the Petal Palette stamp set.  And both cards are embellished with Rhinestone Basic Jewels.

Measurements for this card are as follows:

Thick Whisper White cardstock base:  5-1/2 x 8-1/2 inches (scored at 4-1/4 and folded in half)

Middle layer (Melon Mambo or Pacific Point): 3-7/8 x 5-1/8 inches

Whisper White top layer:  3-3/4 x 5 inches

DSP Butterfly:  2-1/4 x 4 inches

Sometimes I like to keep it super simple, and I think these cards are just that! These could very easily be switched up for any occasion just by changing the sentiment.  They were also quick and easy to make, so if you need a card but don’t have a lot of time, or need to make a bunch, these would be a great choice!
