First Day of Spring and ANOTHER Snow Storm?!

Today is the FIRST day of Spring in the US!  I am so excited and SO ready to put this horrible Winter behind us!  Between sick kids, numerous snow storms, and being sick myself, I seriously cannot wait for sunny days and warmer temperatures!   But not so fast, because we are on track to get hit by ANOTHER snow storm TOMORROW.  It will be the 4th big one to hit us in Connecticut in less than a month!  I am hoping for a last minute change of course, but if the storm stays on the track it’s on now, we’re looking at another foot or more of snow!  YUCK!  I guess Mother Nature isn’t done with Winter yet!

I chose today’s card for it’s bright and sunny message, as I thought it was appropriate for the first day of Spring!  (It was made by the Stampin’ Up! concept artists, so I can’t take credit for it!)  This beautiful card features the Rainbow Builder Framelits and the A Good Day stamp set.  Both items can be found in the Occasions Catalog, as well as in the online store.

I am not 100% sure on the colors used, but I am going to guess that they are Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive, Pool Party, and Rich Razzleberry.  All of the color on this card is applied with aquapainters, so it is heavily diluted to get those gorgeous pastel tones!  In addition to the rainbow colors, it looks like some Smoky Slate was applied to the clouds to give them a little color and shading as well!

Please keep your fingers crossed that we don’t get much from this storm tomorrow!   We have lost our cable and internet a few times with all the bad weather, so if you don’t hear from me for a couple of days, it’s a good bet that it’s out again!

Thanks for checking in today!

Kind Thoughts for You Floral Card

The card I am sharing with you today was made for a team activity that I participated in earlier this month.  We were supposed to make a card for a teammate and send it to them as a “secret cardmaker” type of thing.  The catch was that we were supposed to use greens, golds, and glitter.  You can see how well I followed the directions!  LOL!  I actually completely forgot that we were supposed to use certain colors and realized it only after I put it in the mail, which of course, was too late to do anything about it!  Oops!

I used three different stamp sets on this card.  The first was the Flourishing Phrases stamp set, which I used to stamp on the gray background with Versamark.  I then used the Amazing You set for the flower, which is a Sale-a-Bration reward item!  And then finally, the sentiment is from the You’re Inspiring Set, which I heat embossed in white on Basic Black cardstock.

Measurements for this card are as follows:

Basic Gray card base: 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 inches (scored at 4-1/4 inches and folded in half)

Basic Gray layer:  4 x 5-1/4 inches

Powder Pink layer:  3 x 3 inches

Whisper White layer: 2-3/4 x 2-3/4 inches

Vellum, Pear Pizzazz, and White pieces for punches: 2 x 2 inches (or cut from scraps)

Other products that I used on this card include the Leaf Punch, Classic Label Punch, Rhinestone Basic Jewels, Silver Baker’s Twine, and the Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Pen.  I used the Wink of Stella on the flower.  It’s hard to see but if you look closely, you can see some of the shine in the picture below:

Amazing You and Celebrate You Thinlits Card

I just got back from five days in the Dominican Republic.  Such a beautiful country!  (But really bad internet!)  It was very nice to get away, but I am happy to be home.  Even if the temperature is 50 degrees colder here!  🙂

Today’s project was made with the Amazing You stamp set and Celebrate You Thinlits.  Both items are available for FREE with a qualifying purchase during Sale-a-Bration, and are designed to coordinate with each other perfectly!  You can get the stamp set with a $50 purchase, and the coordinating thinlits with a $100 purchase.  If you’d like BOTH, spend $150 before tax and shipping and get these two items PLUS $15 in Stampin’ Rewards (=FREE STUFF) as well!  That’s a great deal!

Besides the stamp set and thinlits, this card also features the Petal Passion Designer Series Paper colored with Stampin’ Blends.  The colors I used are Cherry Cobbler, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, and Old Olive.  The DSP is layered with Cherry Cobbler cardstock and mounted with Stampin’ Dimensionals on a Basic Black card base.  The “celebrate” is cut from Silver Foil Sheets, as well as the three small dots, which I cut using a die from the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits Dies.  For all of the die cuts, I applied a small piece of Multipurpose Adhesive Sheet to the back of the silver foil before running it through the Big Shot.  When I was ready to apply to the card, I just peeled off the paper backing and adhered to the card.  The adhesive sheets make applying adhesive to die cuts very easy, as well as keeps them neat and clean!

Here’s a pic of what’s on the inside of this card:

The “amazing” is stamped in Cherry Cobbler ink and the “YOU” is stamped in Basic Black.  The card is finished with some Rhinestones for a little added sparkle and shine!

Looking Toward Spring with Tranquil Tulips

Today marks exactly ONE MONTH until the start of Spring in the United States, and I could not be more excited!  I am not a big fan of Winter.  I hate being cold!  When it finally starts to warm up a bit and tulips start making their appearance at the local supermarket, I know that Spring is right around the corner!  Tulips are my favorite flowers, so when I saw this stamp set in the Annual Catalog, I knew I had to have it.  It’s been while since I made a card with this set, so I figured it was time to pull it back out!

Today’s card was inspired by some tulips I bought last week.  Once they begin to appear in the supermarket, I treat myself to a new bunch each week when I go grocery shopping.  They’re not in the stores for too long, as they go out of season quickly, so I try to get them while I can!  Here’s a pic of the ones I bought:

The lighting isn’t great, but they were a very vibrant red!  So for today’s card, I made three tulips in Real Red with Lemon Lime Twist leaves and accents.  The Tranquil Tulip set is designed to give a weathered and watercolored look to the images, which is why there is a variation in the shading for each flower.  It comes with two stamps for each flower, one for the back and another for the front.  When you put them together, you get a full, layered flower!  There’s also stamps for the inside parts of the flowers as well, which I stamped in Basic Black.

I used a thick Whisper White card stock base, layered with Lemon Lime Twist and regular Whisper White.  The sentiment is from the Beautiful Day stamp set and is stamped in Basic Black Archival Ink and framed with a die from the Petals & More Thinlits Dies.  I also embellished with Real Red 1/8″ Solid Ribbon and a couple of Metallic Enamel Shapes.  It’s hard to tell, but I also added a little Wink of Stella to the black inner parts of the flowers, as well as the lines on each of the flowers!

Here’s what you get with the full set:

The tranquil Tulips set is available until May 31st and can only be purchased with Stampin’ Rewards!  How do you get them?  Place an order of $150 or more (before tax and shipping) or host a qualifying workshop!  Want more info?  Contact me today!

Using the Sweet Soiree Embellishment Kit to Decorate Projects

Sometimes you need to make a card fast, and having some pretty, pre-printed, die cut pieces ready to go could come in handy!  The Sweet Soiree Embellishment kit is a great item to have on hand for just such a situation!  It includes colorful, pre-printed die cuts, ribbon, mini clothespins, and more to help quickly create beautiful projects.  It includes everything shown below:

This kit includes:
* 3 sheets vellum/silver foil die-cuts
* 3 sheets printed cardstock/silver foil die-cuts
* 1 sheet white cardstock/silver foil die-cut numbers
* 6 one inch (2.5 cm) mini paper/silver foil tassels with jump rings, 2 each of 3 colors (Flirty Flamingo, Marina Mist, white)
* white/silver foil 1/8″ (3.2 mm) washi tape, 1 yard
* 12 one inch (2.5 cm) white mini clothespins
* Marina Mist 3/8″ (1 cm) Scalloped Velvet Ribbon, 1 yard

Coordinating colors: Berry Burst, Daffodil Delight, Flirty Flamingo, Marina Mist, Old Olive

For this card, I used one of the floral die cuts from the kit, as well as some of the vellum die cuts, to decorate the front of the card.

This kit perfectly coordinates with all of the other products in the Sweet Soiree Suite!  You can either use this kit as an add on with other products in the suite, or use it as a stand alone item!  To view the full suite of products, please click HERE.

For this card, I used a strip of the Sweet Soiree Specialty Designer Series Paper, along with coordinating colors from the suite for the base and other layers.  The sentiment is from the Petal Palette stamp set, which I stamped and then cut out with a die from the Layering Circles Framelits.  The sentiment piece and the floral piece are adhered with Dimensionals.  And of course, I added a couple of silver Metallic Enamel Shapes to give it a little extra shine!  Hope you like it!

Flying Home Stamp Set

I just love the new Flying Home stamp set!  This adorable bird themed set is available in both wood and clear mount, and contains eight red rubber stamps.  The thin lines of the set make it perfect for hand coloring with markers, water color pencils, or other coloring tools.  Pair the images in this set with the sentiment of your choice.  It’s perfect for cards for all different occasions!

The set includes three large stamps, as well as five small individual stamps, perfect for adding detail or backgrounds.  The smaller stamps include two butterflies, two birds, and a cute little bumblebee.   This set would make a great addition to your stamp collection!

Petal Palette Bundle Swap Card

Today’s card is a card I made for a swap I participated in with my team.  There were 14 of us, and we all used different stamps/bundles to make our cards.  I chose the Petal Palette Bundle for mine!  The bundle comes with the Petal Palette stamp set as well as the Petals & More Thinlits dies, and of course, you save 10% when you purchase the bundle!  Here’s a picture from the catalog:

To make this card, I used a Thick Whisper White card base, and layered Berry Burst with regular Whisper White on top.  I then used an aquapainter to spatter some Berry Burst ink from the bottom right corner up to the top left.  While that dried, I cut out my background die cuts.  I used the large leaves and vine die, as well as the trellis looking one.  I cut two of the vine one, one from Pear Pizzazz cardstock and one from Vellum.  On all of the die cuts I used the Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets on the back before cutting.  I absolutely LOVE these sheets!  I think they are so much easier to use than glue.  I always make a huge mess with glue, no matter how careful I am, so the adhesive sheets have been a real lifesaver for me!  I adhered the vellum die cut first, then the Pear Pizzazz over it, and kind of off centered from each other, as I wanted the vellum one to be almost a shadow behind the green one.

Once those were on, I applied the trellis one across the middle of the card.  I stamped the flowers and sentiment in Basic Black, and colored the flowers with aquapainters in Berry Burst and Pear Pizzazz.  After they were dry, I cut the flowers out with the coordinating die from the set, and cut the sentiment out with one of the circles from the Stitched Shapes Framelits.  The flowers were adhered with glue dots, and the sentiment piece with dimensionals.

Once that was done, I added a few rhinestones, and the card was complete!  This may be one of my favorite color combinations ever!  I love Berry Burst, and I think it looks great with any green we offer in our color collection!  But I especially love it with Pear Pizzazz!   I think the soft green and the deep pink look amazing together!

Wishing You a Lovely Day with Lovely Wishes

Here’s a simply elegant card to wish someone a lovely day!  It is made with the Lovely Wishes stamp set, which is found almost all the way at the back of the Occasions Catalog on page 50.  I love the simple, graceful lines of this set, as well as the sweet sentiments!  I find the whole set to be elegant and lovely!

The set contains multiple floral line images, with additional stamps that can be used to fill in the lines with color.  Because it is a photopolymer set, and the stamps are totally clear, lining up the stamps is very easy!  You can also just color in the images with the coloring product of your choice, or even just leave them unfilled!  For this card, I chose to keep it super simple, just adding a bit of color with the coordinating filler stamps.  I used Very Vanilla as the base, along with Early Espresso, Old Olive, and Real Red.

Once I cut my layers, I stamped the the two large floral images first in Old Olive.  I then inked up the filler stamp in Old Olive as well, but stamped it off once before adding it to the leaves, to give it a bit of contrast by making the leaves a lighter shade.  I then filled in the flowers with the Real Red, using coordinating stamps from the set as well.  The sentiment is stamped in Early Espresso.  Before adhering the top layers to the card, I stamped a different stamp from the set in Old Olive in the corners of the card base, just to add a little extra detail.

The top layers are adhered to the base with Dimensionals to add a little more height and texture to the card.  After making this card, I sat for about twenty minutes trying to figure out a way to embellish it a bit.  I even put it away and came back to it the next day, trying to figure out if I should add anything else!  I tried a few different things, but I just didn’t like anything I tried, so I decided to leave it as is.  I really like the simplicity of it!

Thanks for stopping by today!  Wishing You a Lovely Day!  🙂

Another Petal Palette Creation!

As I was getting ready to write today’s post, it occurred to me that I have used the Petal Palette stamp set or full bundle on a LOT of recent projects.  I guess I really like it!

Today’s card features the roses from the Petal Palette set.  I stamped them in Basic Black archival ink and then watercolored them with Brusho.  For this project, I did not sprinkle the crystals on the cardstock and then add water.  I sprinkled them on a clear block, added water to mix, and THEN colored the image, as I wanted to keep the color within the lines!  Once it was dry, I cut it with the coordinating die from the Petals & More Thinlits.  (Don’t forget, you can purchase both the stamp set and the thinlits together as a bundle for a savings of 10%!)

The Brusho colors that I used on the flowers are Brilliant Red and Gamboge.  The leaves were watercolored with Lemon Lime Twist, as I wanted them to coordinate with the middle layer and trellis looking die cut on the right.  That die is also from the Petals & More Thinlits.  I love the contrast of the bright colors against the black and white!

For the background, I used a brand new embossing folder called Scattered Sequins Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  It really looks like a bunch of different sized sequins scattered across the paper!  Here’s a close up of the impressions:

All of these products are from the Occasions Catalog and are now available in the online store!  Time to get my boys fed and out the door for school!  Happy Friday!  🙂

Celebrate with Petal Palette and Celebrate You Thinlits

The card I made today is inspired by one of the cards I made in November at OnStage.  Of all the samples we made, it was my favorite!  To see the original card, please click here.  For today’s card I used paper from the Sweet Soiree Specialty Designer Series Paper as the background.  The bird layer is stamped in Powder Pink ink and cut with the Stitched Shape Framelits, for a little added detail. I skipped a stamped sentiment, and instead went with a die cut one from the Celebrate You Thinlits, which you can earn for FREE with a $100 purchase before tax and shipping!  It is one of the NEW $100 level rewards that can be earned this year during Sale-a-Bration!

Before cutting the sentiment, I applied a piece of Multipurpose Adhesive Sheet to the back.  Doing this, in essence, creates a sticker from the die cut, and makes it simple to adhere your die cuts with very little effort/mess.  When you’re ready to apply, you just peel off the back layer and stick!  It’s a little extra work and expense, but definitely worth it!  Honestly, no matter how careful I am with glue, I ALWAYS make a mess!  So the Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets are definitely a life saver for me!

Once the card was assembled, I added an extra scalloped circle layer behind the bird, and adhered the whole thing with dimensionals to make it pop a little!  I then added a few embellishments to finish it off.  I used two embellishments from the Occasions catalog on this card.  First, the silver leaves are from the Petal Passion Embellishments.  I then added a few epoxy shapes from the Glitter & Clear Epoxy Shapes.  These are one of my favorite new embellishments to use!  They are clear and very tiny, but they give a nice added touch to projects!  I used the glitter ones, which have just the tiniest hint of glitter!  Here’s a close up:

These cards will be going to new team members and members who have birthdays this month!  I hope they like them, and I hope you do too!  🙂

If you have any questions about this card, please don’t hesitate to ask!

Enjoy your day!
