Happy July! Independence Day is right around the corner! I LOVE Independence Day! Not only does it celebrate an integral part of our country’s history, but it was also my grandfather’s birthday. I have so many happy memories of this day from when I was a kid, because we would always go to my aunt’s house for a big party with my whole family. My mom is one of 13 kids, so between aunts, uncles, grandparents, and cousins, there were A LOT of us!
It’s my turn to create for 3D Thursday, so I created a festive patriotic luminary to celebrate the 4th! This project was A LOT of fun to create! I used Real Red, Night of Navy, and white for my colors, but other reds and blues can be used as well! This project can also be modified to be bigger or smaller, or can be made for any holiday or occasion just by switching up colors and how it’s decorated. I fully plan on making some for both Halloween and Christmas this year!
To light the luminary, I used a 3 inch battery operated LED candle. I got the candles at At Home, however, they can be purchased pretty much anywhere. The ones I have flicker like real candles, so it looks really pretty when lit! I had first tried using fairy lights, which also looked great, but I only had one small strand, and they didn’t quite light up the whole thing, so I switched to the candle. However, the fairy lights do work well too, as long as you have enough to fill the whole thing!
If you would like info on how you can create your own luminary, you can download my FREE project sheet HERE, or by clicking the image below. It contains a complete supply list, instructions, and all measurements needed!
