Last year’s holiday catalog meets this year’s holiday catalog

There’s so much excitement surrounding the Holiday Catalog once it comes out, that it’s easy to forget that there are some great holiday items in the Annual Catalog as well!  This week, I am making a point to use items not only from the new Holiday Catalog, but also items from the Annual one, both holiday and everyday items too!

Today’s card features the Watercolor Christmas stamp set from the 2017 Holiday Catalog.  This set is available in both clear mount and wood mount.  I love the large, elegant script in all of the sentiments in this set!  I paired the Merriest Christmas Wishes sentiment with the Santa stamp from the Cookie Cutter Christmas set. The Cookie Cutter Christmas set was a huge hit from LAST year’s Holiday Catalog, and is now available in the Annual Catalog! Both images were stamped in Basic Black Archival ink.  The sentiment was framed and cut with the Stitched Shapes Framelits, and the Santa image was colored with Stampin’ Write Markers.  The background papers are from the Quilted Christmas 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper, and the holly and berries accent is from the Carols of Christmas Bundle.

Thanks for checking in today!  Please check back tomorrow for another project featuring items both “old” and “new”!

3 x 3 Painted Harvest Mini Note Card Set

I LOVE mini note cards!  Mini note cards are the perfect size to place in lunches, coworkers’ mailboxes, or for use as gift tags! This set was made using the Painted Harvest Bundle, Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper, and both the Ribbon of Courage and So Many Shells stamp sets. I love sunflowers, and this set makes it easy to make stunning sunflowers in any color combination you choose.  For these cards, I stuck with traditional yellow, but I’ve seen some made with red, orange, and even some non-traditional greens, blues, and more that are just gorgeous!

These cards measure 3 x 3 inches, and are the perfect size to fit inside the new Mini Pizza Boxes. These cute little boxes measure 3-1/2 x 3-1/2 x 1 inches, and can be used for card sets/tags, but are also food safe, so they can be used for yummy treats as well!  This finished set contains the three cards, as well as three Whisper White 3 x 3 Envelopes (envelopes not shown).  This set would make a cute gift for someone special!

Thanks for stopping by today!

a little love bird on a coffee break!

Coffee Break Designer Series paper was used to make this very NON-coffee themed card!  While many of the designs in the paper are definitely coffee themed, many are generic, and can be used for any kind of card!  This card features two of the designs in Soft Sky and Garden Green.  I watercolored some Pear Pizzazz behind the paper, and used the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits for the “love”.  The cute little bird is from the Birds & Blooms Thinlits, and the “You” on the banner piece is from the Wood Words stamp set. Hope you like it!

Taking inspiration from the Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog

Sometimes, the best place to look for inspiration is the Stampin’ Up! catalog!  Not only do the catalogs beautifully showcase all of the great products that Stampin’ Up! sells, but there are also loads of full color samples throughout to show many ways the products can be used!  The card in this post was inspired by a sample on page 36 of the Holiday Catalog.  I loved the sample as it is shown in the catalog, but wanted to change it up and make it with the more traditional Christmas colors of red and green. (Or in this case, Real Red and Garden Green!)

Here is the original card as it is shown in the catalog:

I really love the layout and design of this card, so I wanted to keep my final version as close to the original as possible.  I simply substituted a different paper and greeting, and added some extra sequins for a little more bling!  For my version, I used paper from the Quilted Christmas 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper and an alternate greeting from the Cheers to the Year stamp set (which is the same set that was used on the sample in the catalog). I kept the large snowflake background, which was made with the Winter Wonder Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, as well as the Silver Mini Sequin Trim.  The extra sequins I added are from the Metallics Sequins Assortment.  I’m very pleased with how it came out!

mini gift box made with the envelope punch board

This itty, bitty gift box was made using the Envelope Punch Board!  I never would have thought to use that board to make a BOX, but it was super easy, and you can adjust the size of the paper and score lines to make all different sizes!  This one is 2-3/8 x 2-3/8 x 1-3/8 inches in size, and is the absolute perfect size for party favors.  While I am not set up to do videos of my own just yet, there are many, many videos already out there that you can watch to learn how to do this if you’d like to make your own. Simply Google “Gift Box with Envelope Punch Board” and a bunch of different videos will pop up. You can easily make these for any occasion, simply by changing the paper!

To make this particular box, I started with a 6 x 6 inch square of Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper. I used the Envelope Punch Board to punch and score at both 2 and 4 inches all the way around the square.  Once that was done, I rounded all the corners using the reverse punch, which can be found right at the top of the board.  I then folded the paper on all of the score lines. There are a couple of places that you need to cut with scissors in order to fold the box correctly (this is where a video definitely helps!) Once the score lines were folded, I applied some Fast Fuse adhesive to keep the box together. Before closing it up, I put in a few Hershey Kisses, and then just folded the top flaps down and added a bit of adhesive to keep it closed. I wanted to keep the top of this box flat in order to wrap the ribbon around and use the mini bow on top, but there are many other ways to finish them instead. For instance, in the video I watched, small holes were punched in each flap that had ribbon threaded through. The ribbon was then tied a bow. Definitely check out Pinterest and/or Google for lots of examples of how these little boxes can be finished, and what they can be used for!

Other items used to finish this box include the Leaf Punch, Wood Words Bundle (for the sentiment and tag), and Silver Mini Sequin Trim.

Halloween Treat Gift Jar

Here’s a quick and easy gift idea for someone special!  Simply fill a pint sized mason jar with Hershey Kisses (these are the caramel filled ones – YUM!), make a cute tag, and attach to the jar with pretty ribbon!  This tag was made using the new Spooky Night Designer Series Paper. I cut a two inch strip and punched the tag top with the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch. I then stamped the Jack O’ Lantern image with a stamp from the Seasonal Chums stamp set using Basic Black Archival Ink. Once dry, I watercolored the image using an Aquapainter and Classic Stampin’ Pads (please see below for the colors I used!) Once that was dry, I punched it using the 2 Inch Circle Punch and layered it on the tag over a piece of Pumpkin Pie cardstock, which I punched using the Everyday Label Punch. The sentiment was also stamped in Basic Black and punched with the Classic Label Punch. This gift can also be made for any other occasion simply by switching the stamps, paper, sentiments, and of course, the CANDY! 🙂

Easy Christmas Tags with DSP and Merry Little Labels

Want to make some quick and easy tags? These were made using the Be Merry Designer Series Paper, the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch, and the Merry Little Labels Bundle! Simply cut a 4 x 2 inch piece of DSP and punch the top with the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch. Then, cut a 1 x 2 inch strip of a different, but coordinating DSP and adhere to the tag. Stamp your desired label from the Merry Little Labels set and punch out with the Everyday Label Punch (which comes as part of the bundle!) Adhere the punched label with some Dimensionals, add some ribbon or string to the top, and you’re good to go! For these, I used the 1/4 inch Cherry Cobbler Double Stitched Ribbon, but you could use anything you wish. I also rounded the edges with the reverse punch on the Envelope Punch Board. But these tags would still look great with non-rounded corners!

These tags were super easy to make, and can be changed to tags for any occasion just by changing the DSP and stamps you use!

It’s almost Fall! Time for Pumpkins!

Fall is my absolute favorite time of year! Especially in New England! We get such gorgeous colors on the trees, there’s tons of Fall Fairs and Festivals, and everything turns to pumpkins: pumpkin beer, pumpkin coffee, pumpkin bread, and so much more! This card features the new Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper. The paper provides the leafy background, as well as the pumpkins, which were cut and trimmed right from the paper! Finally, the sentiment comes from the Painted Harvest stamp set, which coordinates perfectly with the entire Painted Autumn Suite, available now from Stampin’ Up! Other products used on this card include Linen Thread and Touches of Nature Elements. Colors are Early Espresso, Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry, Daffodil Delight, Garden Green, Lemon Lime Twist, Peekaboo Peach, Soft Sky, and Tangerine Tango.
