please join me for world cardmaking day 2017!

World Cardmaking Day is October 7th!  I will be hosting a cardmaking event in Johnston, RI on that day, and I would LOVE for you to join me!  Please contact me for the address and directions, and I will get them to you ASAP. I also have some suggestions for those who may not be able to attend, or are out of state.  Please see below for all the details!

Local Event Details

For my local friends, I will be hosting an event on October 7th from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm in Johnston, RI. This will be a very laid back, casual, drop in event! I will have ten different cards for you to choose from, and all cards will be $3 each. It will be an a la carte event: simply stop in, stay as long as you want, and make as many cards as you wish! There is no upfront fee…just pay for the cards you make, whether you make one or all ten! ALL supplies, including envelopes, are included, so no need to bring anything but yourselves! I will have a variety of cards available including everyday occasions, as well as some Holiday ones. (If you are planning to attend, and have any special requests, let me know, and I will see what I can put together for you!) There will also be refreshments, fun, and lots of laughs! Please RSVP by October 1st if you plan to attend so I know how many to plan for. And please feel free to invite friends!

Suggestions for Those Who Cannot Attend in Person

If you are too far away from RI, or are local, but are unable to attend on the 7th, here are a few options to consider if you would like to make some cards on your own:

Oh Happy Day Card Kit:

Here’s a bright, fun, all occasion option for those who can’t make it on the 7th! The Oh Happy Day Card Kit makes 20 All Occasion cards, and includes everything you need to make them (except scissors and adhesive). It includes the stamps, ink, and a block for the stamps, so even if you are new to stamping, you are still good to go! Full color instructions are included. This kit sells for $35 in my online store. (That works out to only $1.75 per card!) For more details, or to order this kit, please click here.

Soft Sayings Card Kit:

Another kit option includes the Soft Sayings Card Kit. This kit also makes 20 All Occasion cards. With this kit, you get to make two each of ten different cards! Again, it includes everything you need (except scissors and adhesive). Full color instructions included. This kit also sells for $35, and can be found in my online store. Please click here to view all the details regarding this kit, or to order!

Watercolor Christmas Project Kit:

Want to get started on your Christmas cards instead? This kit makes 20 cards, 5 each of the 4 designs shown here. However, this kit does not include stamps. The Watercolor Christmas stamp set needs to be purchased separately in order to complete the cards as shown. The total for both is $38 (if you order the clear mount stamp set.) The stamp set is $18 and the kit is $20. Anyone who chooses this option and purchases this kit and stamp set, will receive a clear block and Basic Black mini ink pad from me separately! That way you will have everything you need (again, except adhesive and scissors) to complete these cards, without having to spend too much extra! For information on the Watercolor Christmas Project kit, please click here. For information on the coordinating stamp set, please click here.

I will also have these kits available at my local event on October 7th for anyone who wants to check them out!

A side note on kits: If you are considering ordering one of the kits shown above, why not invite a friend or two over, split the cost, and have your own mini event? Just an idea! 🙂

I hope you will all consider joining me, whether in person or on your own for World Cardmaking Day! I will post some reminders here and on my Facebook page as we get closer, as well as in my October newsletter, which will go out in a couple of weeks! (Please click on the “Newsletter” link above to sign up!)

In the meantime, if you have any questions or need anything, please don’t hesitate to ask!

Here are the kits once more, as well as some additional suggested products to complete them:

Thinking of You with Count My Blessings Stamp Set

Who says you need to use traditional Fall colors with Fall themed sets?  This card was made using the Count My Blessings stamp set, the Pick a Pumpkin Bundle, and one itty, bitty die from the Bouquet Bunch Framelits!  An Aquapainter was used to make the watercolored background on Watercolor Paper using Island Indigo ink.  I then stamped the Thinking of You sentiment in Night of Navy, and ran it through the Big Shot using the Stitched Shapes Framelits dies.  I cut out the different leaves using dies from both the Patterned Pumpkins dies (which are part of the Pick a Pumpkin bundle, but can also be purchased separately) and the Bouquet Bunch Framelits.  (It’s hard to tell, but the dark blue leaves are also stamped with a stamp from the Pick a Pumpkin stamp set!)  I then assembled the card, adhered the sentiment piece with Dimensionals for a little extra detail, and embellished with a few pearls. Colors are Island Indigo, Sahara Sand, Night of Navy, Pear Pizzazz, and Whisper White!

Halloween Treat Gift Jar

Here’s a quick and easy gift idea for someone special!  Simply fill a pint sized mason jar with Hershey Kisses (these are the caramel filled ones – YUM!), make a cute tag, and attach to the jar with pretty ribbon!  This tag was made using the new Spooky Night Designer Series Paper. I cut a two inch strip and punched the tag top with the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch. I then stamped the Jack O’ Lantern image with a stamp from the Seasonal Chums stamp set using Basic Black Archival Ink. Once dry, I watercolored the image using an Aquapainter and Classic Stampin’ Pads (please see below for the colors I used!) Once that was dry, I punched it using the 2 Inch Circle Punch and layered it on the tag over a piece of Pumpkin Pie cardstock, which I punched using the Everyday Label Punch. The sentiment was also stamped in Basic Black and punched with the Classic Label Punch. This gift can also be made for any other occasion simply by switching the stamps, paper, sentiments, and of course, the CANDY! 🙂

Easy Christmas Tags with DSP and Merry Little Labels

Want to make some quick and easy tags? These were made using the Be Merry Designer Series Paper, the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch, and the Merry Little Labels Bundle! Simply cut a 4 x 2 inch piece of DSP and punch the top with the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch. Then, cut a 1 x 2 inch strip of a different, but coordinating DSP and adhere to the tag. Stamp your desired label from the Merry Little Labels set and punch out with the Everyday Label Punch (which comes as part of the bundle!) Adhere the punched label with some Dimensionals, add some ribbon or string to the top, and you’re good to go! For these, I used the 1/4 inch Cherry Cobbler Double Stitched Ribbon, but you could use anything you wish. I also rounded the edges with the reverse punch on the Envelope Punch Board. But these tags would still look great with non-rounded corners!

These tags were super easy to make, and can be changed to tags for any occasion just by changing the DSP and stamps you use!

It’s almost Fall! Time for Pumpkins!

Fall is my absolute favorite time of year! Especially in New England! We get such gorgeous colors on the trees, there’s tons of Fall Fairs and Festivals, and everything turns to pumpkins: pumpkin beer, pumpkin coffee, pumpkin bread, and so much more! This card features the new Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper. The paper provides the leafy background, as well as the pumpkins, which were cut and trimmed right from the paper! Finally, the sentiment comes from the Painted Harvest stamp set, which coordinates perfectly with the entire Painted Autumn Suite, available now from Stampin’ Up! Other products used on this card include Linen Thread and Touches of Nature Elements. Colors are Early Espresso, Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry, Daffodil Delight, Garden Green, Lemon Lime Twist, Peekaboo Peach, Soft Sky, and Tangerine Tango.

Background Bits Mini Note Card Set

I LOVE mini note cards!  This set was made using the Host Set Background Bits.  Each card measures 3 x 3 inches in size and fits perfectly into a Stampin’ Up 3 x 3 Whisper White Square Envelope (not shown).  Mini note cards are perfect for tucking into lunch boxes, office mailboxes, or for use as gift tags!  Colors for these are Bermuda Bay, Lemon Lime Twist, Basic Black, and Whisper White.   Each one is finished with a silver circle from the Metallic Enamel Shapes for a little added bling!

Thoughts and Prayers Friendship Card

Thoughts and Prayers is one of the first stamp sets I bought when I became a demonstrator!  I love the simplicity of the tree and floral images, as well as the beautiful sentiments!  (The sentiment on this card is actually not from the Thoughts & Prayers set though. It’s from the So Many Shells set!) I have used Thoughts & Prayers for many, many occasions, including birthdays, weddings, Mother’s Day, friendship, thank yous, and of course, sympathy cards. This set comes in both clear mount and wood mount, and would make a great addition to your collection!

To make this card, I cut an extra top layer, then used a square from the Layering Squares Thinlits to make a “mask”. This mask was placed over the final top layer, so that the whole layer was covered except for the square that had been cut out. I then used a Stampin’ Sponge to sponge Crumb Cake ink all inside the square to make the background behind the tree. Once it was completely filled in, I removed the mask, stamped the tree and sentiment both in Soft Suede ink, and then added Clear Wink of Stella Glitter to the leaves of the tree!
